Dear Friend,,
Over the weekend I read about a man named Sophie, who identifies as a woman, looking for a wedding dress.
He is featured in a reality television program called “Say yes to the dress.” He was upset because he has ‘body image’ issues and apparently couldn’t find the right dress.
His mother said he has been on such a big journey and deserves to ‘feel like a beautiful young lady.’
It is so sad and frustrating to see the power radical activists have had in the media and in the lives of vulnerable young people.
Activists have wrongly sold this young man and many like him a lie. They imply that to ‘feel like a young lady’ all a person needs to do is throw on a pretty dress.
I am staggered that in this day and age, such out-dated stereotypes can be held up as life goals for gender dysphoric people.
Women, and men, have fought for centuries to stop appearances from being the defining mark of being a male or female. We have rejected rigid stereotypes and now these radical activists want us to be bound by them once again.
A man can no more ‘feel’ like a woman, than I can ‘feel’ like a bird or a horse.
A man is a man. He may experience an infinite number of feelings, but he does so as a man. The same goes for women.
Feelings are valid. They help us express a huge range of emotions. But they don’t change facts.
The reality is a person cannot change their biology. They can change their appearance to satisfy stereotypes, but the facts remain. Chromosomes, reproductive systems and the production of hormones determines whether or not we are male or female. Not feelings.
Yours sincerely,
Kirralie Smith
