What Will Heaven
Be Like?
Seldom do you hear or read a sermon telling you what heaven will be like. We hear sermons that describe what heaven will look like.
Revelation 21: 10-26
10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.
11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.
12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.
13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west.
14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls.
16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long.
17 The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits thick.
18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass.
19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald,
20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.
21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.
22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
24The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.
25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.
26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.
It is every true Christian's joy to ponder what it will be like to be in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for eternity.
As Jesus was being crucified He looked upon the thief beside Him and said:
Luke 23:43 And Jesus replied, I assure you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."
Jesus did not say what Paradise would be at that time, however He did at other times in the Bible.
Revelation 21:1 1 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
John wrote the Words of Revelation at God's direction.
Thus we are right to assume there will be no threats of hurricanes, typhoons, tsunamis or, floods.
Revelation 21:4 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
From this we learn there will no need in heaven for handkerchief as there will be no tears. There will be no death, no pain, nor sorrows so we learn there will be no need of hospitals, funeral parlors, caskets, of cemeteries. Death has been overcome.
Imagine living in a place where there is no need of drug stores, no need of painkillers, prescriptions, as all illness no longer exist.
There will be no more fear, no disbelief, no murder, lies, witchcraft, or other abominable things.
Revelation 21:8 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
Think of it!
No more child molesters, no fear of violence, no murder, no theft, no homeless, no more crippled limbs, amputees, no deafness, blindness or any type of malaise.
We,each one of us, will receive a new body given us by God Himself. That body will be incorruptible and in His image. This is set forth in 1 Corinthians 15: 38-54. (too lengthy to be entered) P_lease read this scripture.
There will be no clocks in heaven as time will have lost all importance. No sun, moon or stars as God will be our illumination.
Jesus Christ is our victor over death!
1 Corinthians 15: 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
It will be a glorious event in our existence to gain entry into heaven to be in the presence of God throughout eternity. We will be in the company of so many saints I cannot think of words to describe the crowd we will share eternity with in heaven. I can only imagine the joyful noise of the singing of praises to our Lord, but I try...I really try...My heart longs to be with Him and to sing praises to Him.
Allow me to tell you the following.
In my heart I sing to God throughout the day and continue until I fall asleep . I have heard people, as soloists, sing hymns of praise and worship to the Lord, or myself alone. Recently I have been hearing a vast horde of voices, mine included, singing praises to Him. The peace that I feel hearing these songs of praise to Him causes me to smile and brings tears of joy to my eyes and happiness to my soul.
I pray that you too will share in my happiness...
To each of you I say, make heaven your earnest desire. Jesus is coming for all that repent to Him and forego this life here on earth. I pray that one day, in the days ahead, we will meet one day face to face and live eternity with He who redeemed us...
(Closing Prayer)
Heavenly Father, Creator of us all, we praise You and we worship You. You have given us so very much and have promised so much more. You have given us salvation through the death of You Son. For this You have shown us love in return.
Abba, we are sinners and ask that You forgive our sins as well as our shortcomings. As the hymn we sing to You, "Praise be to Thee O'Lord King of our salvation." please accept our praises.
Father, we ask that You protect our President, our elected leaders, our military and those who protect us. We also ask that You send angels to protect those in need both at home and in foreign lands.
We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior, who is One with You and the Holy Spirit, One God forever and ever...
Amen, amen and amen
