Ø “First of all it's not a debate. It's a shouting match and no one is listening to the other side.
Ø Second; it's not about children, or school safety.
Ø It's a brutal and contentious political power play by the left to capitalize on a tragedy to gain more government control over the lives of everybody. The media has stepped in to fight for the Democrats to institute "gun control". CNN and other MSM outlets have turned in to full time Democrat advocates activating the mob.
Ø The danger is that our elected leaders do something stupid to silence the mob. Reasoned debate went out the window minutes after the Florida school shooting.”
Ignore the facts that gun control has not been effective in curbing gun violence, in part, because so called semi-automatic weapons are used in less than 2% of gun related homicides and injuries. Let’s talk about gun access which is the gun grabber’s rationale for confiscating our guns. The Clinton era 1994-2004 ban on assault weapons was notstatistically significant in curbing gun violence because of the low numbers of weaponstargeted and grandfathering provisions. Hand guns account for more gun violence than semi-automatic rifles.
Handguns were used in 19 times as many murders than rifles were in 2016, according to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting data. Handguns killed nine times as many persons as rifles, shotguns, and other guns did combined. The type of firearm used was unknown for about 28 percent of all firearm murders.
In 2017, 43% of US residents owned one or more guns and for every 100 residents we owned over 101.5 guns. Yet, the US is not number one in firearm related homicide rates per 100,000. The U.S. had the 31st highest rate in the world: 3.85 deaths due to gun violence per 100,000 people in 2016. And the main reason that we are 31st is the highhomicide rate among gangs and criminals in the DIMMs anti-law and order inner cities like Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, and New Orleans.
And it’s the left that has crippled the laws meant to fight gangs and drug dealers. Obama initiated a drug dealer pardon amnesty even while calling for more gun control. But the only way to control gang violence is by cracking down on gangs, not on guns. The pro-crime left deems such measures a “school-to-prison pipeline” that’s little more than “modern slavery”. And so the gang violence goes on.
Most gun violence takes place in Democrat territory. And it’s caused by leftist pro-crime policies. Remember the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting which occurred on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, United States, when 20-year-old Adam Lanza fatally shot 20 children between six and seven years old, as well as six adult staff members. Prior to driving to the school, he shot and killed his mother at their Newtown home. As first responders arrived at the scene, Lanza committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.
By merging an Adam Lanza with a gang member shooting up a street corner in Chicago, the media hides what is really going on. Rampage killers are rare. Gang violence is commonplace. By making rampage killers the face of gun violence, the left gets to blame its own policies on the NRA.
America doesn't have a gun problem, It has a gang problem - The country's real "gun culture" is controlled by the urban Democratic machine. Despite a 20-year downward trend for violent crime in the U.S., murder rates have gone up in the past two years. Here's a look at the cities that currently have the highest murder rates in the country.(https://majorcitieschiefs. com/pdf/news/mcca_violent_ crime_report_2017_and_2016_ midyear_07312017_update.pdf)
Washington, D.C., home of the boys and girls who can solve it all, approached its own big 100 murders in 2015. (Murder rate per 100k people: 24.10)
Murder rates in 2015: Chicago’s murder rate of 17.52 per 100,000 people looks nothing like the American 4.2 rate, the Midwestern 4.5 or the Illinois’ 5.6 rates, but it does look like the murder rates in failed countries like Rwanda, Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe. To achieve Chicago’s murder rate, African countries usually have to experience a bloody genocidal civil war or decades of tyranny.
But Chicago isn’t even all that unique. Or the worst case scenario. That would be New Orleans in 2015 which at an incredible 41.68 murder rate per 100,000 people is ten times higher than the national average. If New Orleans were a country in 2015, it would have had the 2nd highest murder rate in the world, beating out El Salvador.
Homicide rates like these show that something is broken, but it isn’t broken among theTrump voters rushing to stock up on semi-automatic assault rifles every time Obama began threatening their right to buy them; it’s broken among Obama’s and DIMM’sbase.
Any serious conversation about gun violence and gun culture has to begin at home; in Chicago, in Baltimore, in New York City, in Los Angeles and in Washington, D.C.
Voting for Obama does not make people innately homicidal. Just look at Seattle in 2015which was agonizing over its 26 murders. That's about the same number of murders asnumbers in 2015 in East St. Louis which has only 27,000 people to Seattle's 620,000.
So what is happening in Chicago to drive it to the gates of hell ahead of Zimbabwe and Rwanda?
A breakdown of the 2015-2017 Chicago killing fields shows that 83% of those murdered in Chicago had criminal records. In Philly, it’s 75%. In Milwaukee it’s 77% percent. In New Orleans, it’s 64%. In Baltimore, it’s 91%. Many were felons who had served time. And as many as 80% of the homicides were gang related.
Chicago’s problem isn’t guns; it’s gangs. Chicago has some of the most severe gun control ordinances in the nation. Despite a number of recent court cases invalidating the city's strict gun control laws, Chicago still has no gun store or range within the city limits. Gun control efforts in Chicago or any other major city are doomed because gangs represent organized crime networks which stretch down to Mexico, and trying to cut off their gun supply will be as effective as trying to cut off their drug supply.
America’s murder rate isn’t the work of the suburban and rural homeowners who shop for guns at sporting goods stores and at gun shows, and whom news shows profile after every shooting, but by the gangs embedded in the urban areas controlled by the Democratic machine. The gangs who drive up America’s murder rate look nothing like the occasional mentally ill suburban white kid who should be on anti-psychotic medication or goes off his medication, then decides to murder and shoot up a school. Lanza, like most serial killers, is a media aberration, not the norm.
