Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) has named Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) Porker of the Month for spreading falsehoods about commonsense tax reform. Each year, Americans waste 8.9 billion hours on complying with the tax code, and tax compliance costs the economy $234.4 billion. The framework for tax reform released by the Trump Administration and congressional Republicans in September would dramatically simplify the tax code, lower taxes for every American, and make American businesses more globally competitive. Nonetheless, Sen. Wyden went on a Twitter temper tantrum on September 27, calling the proposal a “scam” and falsely claiming that it “raises taxes on many middle-class families.”
