Pressure mounting on Congress to increase H-2B visas -- Tell your Senators to oppose!
Dear friends,
H-2B visas for unskilled seasonal labor are currently limited to 66,000 visas per year. In 2015, a group of pro-foreign worker Members of Congress managed to quadruple available H-2B visas in 2016 to 264,000 by exempting returning workers from the previous 3 years from the cap. The most recent continuing resolution (passed in December) did not contain the returning worker exemption, effectively restoring the 66,000 cap. Unfortunately, the continuing resolution expires in April and will need to be renewed by a new spending bill.
Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) will be sending a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer urging them to increase the number of H-2B visas.
Please send your U.S. Senators an email and urge them to oppose any efforts to increase H-2B numbers.
