Get this: Yesterday President
Donald Trump signed an Executive Order beginning the process of building The Wall and de-funding sanctuary cities.
A candidate keeping his campaign
promises. What a novel
idea.
His political opponents – and by that I mean primarily CNN –
love to try to corner conservatives who support enforcement of the nation’s
immigration laws by claiming enforcement will break up families. And conservatives usually fall for it and
stammer all over themselves trying to respond to this purely emotional, not
legal argument.
The correct response should be: WRONG!
If someone has entered the United States illegally with
their family, is caught, and then deported back to their home country, there is
absolutely NO REASON whatsoever why they can’t take their family with
them. There is NO REASON to break up the
family. If a parent who entered the U.S.
illegally CHOOSES to leave their family behind, that’s THEIR decision.
And yes, it’s true that some children of illegal aliens are
born on U.S. soil while the illegal aliens are in the country and, therefore,
are U.S. citizens. As such, they are not
subject to deportation and can remain here.
But they are still CHILDREN.
As such, their PARENTS are responsible for them. And if the parents are deported because they
broke our immigration laws, it’s they who have to decide whether or not
to leave their American children behind.
Actions have consequences.
I’m not saying it’s not a crummy situation many so-called
DREAMERs face.
But the bottom line is
that all these bad things that could happen to them are the result of decisions
their parents made. Those parents need
to take responsibility for putting their kids in this situation. They did it.
Getting mad at President Trump is misdirected.
If you want open borders, fine. Change the law. Until then, follow it.
Cheers.

P.S. Have you noticed
that when Donald Trump raises the issue
of possible voting fraud, political opponents – and by that I mean primarily
CNN – respond that there’s no “proof” or “evidence” to back up the claim?
But just because there’s no “proof” doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. In fact, isn’t it ironic that critics demand proof from
Trump that there’s voter fraud yet refuse to require proof of eligibility to
vote via photo ID? How can there be “proof”
of voter fraud if people can vote without proving they are who they say they are? Duh.

NEVADA NEWS & VIEWS
Lottery is the
Perfect “Thank You” for Paid Parking on the Strip
A recent column by gaming reporter Rich Velotta pointed out
that in the next couple of months some 83% of Strip resorts and casinos will be
hitting both tourists and locals with paid parking thanks to a decision last
year by the corporate bean-counters at MGM Grand.
Indeed, despite misleading propaganda claiming MGM’s new
T-Mobile arena was built with “private” money, the reality is it’s being
subsidized by millions of dollars from what amounts to a new mandatory “room
tax” on your car. Thanks, guys!
For decades now Nevada voters have gone out of their way to
protect the Strip mega-resorts from higher taxes and regulations. Remember when smoking was banned in every
commercial business…except casinos?
And Big Gaming has successfully defended itself from tax
hikes over the years despite the fact that Nevada casinos pay the lowest gaming
tax in the galaxy. At the same time the
industry has worked relentlessly to sock it to everybody else in the state.
In 2015, Big Gaming used its Big Clout and its Big Donations
to pressure the Nevada Legislature to pass the Biggest Tax Hike in state
history. Now every business in the state
– even those not subject to the new Commerce Tax – is required to report to the
new “Nevada IRS” that was created to administer it. Thanks, guys!
That same monster tax hike doubled the state’s mandatory
business license fee for small businesses, jacked up your vehicle registration
fees and boosted the sales tax on just about everything you buy except
groceries. Thanks, guys!
Indeed, Big Gaming has gone out of its way to screw
everybody but Big Gaming. What has
historically been a benevolent, mutually-beneficial relationship between the
industry and the voters has soured to Bolshevik proportions.
Which brings me to the lottery…
