Recovering from my DNC Nausea
By Elise Cooper
At
the Democratic Convention Americans heard criticisms of Donald Trump.
They spoke of his temperament, lack of experience in foreign affairs,
how he is about gloom and doom, and that Hillary Clinton would be a role
model for all women. The hypocrisy in the air is nauseating. Taking a
few of their talking points, counter arguments can easily be made.
The
last night of the convention Khizr Khan spoke of his son dying while
serving in the US military. His son, as well as others who died to keep
Americans safe, should be admired and respected. But for the Democrats
to parade this man out to chastise Donald Trump is beyond outrageous.
This is one more example of how Clinton and company want to divide this
nation. First, Trump has said nothing about Muslims who are US
citizens, only speaking of banning those from nations who have terrorist
ties until they can be fully vetted.
But
more importantly, do they really want to do a tit for tat? Here are a
few cases of Muslims serving in the US military who were traitors to
their peers.
Hillary
speaks of someone who is a role model to women and who will be their
biggest advocate. Could have fooled me if you listen to what she and
her surrogates have said. Hillary Clinton portrays herself as a
feminist; yet, she has a partnership with a known womanizer, Bill
Clinton. What Donald Trump said about her is very true,
“She’s
been the total enabler. She would go after these women and destroy
their lives. She was an unbelievably nasty, mean enabler, and what she
did to a lot of those women is disgraceful.”
In
the 1980s a tape came out where Clinton laughs as she talks of getting a
lesser sentence for a rapist on a technicality. The victim accuses her
of being a hypocrite for championing women's rights after helping her
attacker find a loophole in the case. In 1998 she called Monica Lewinsky
a “narcissistic loony toon.” Lewinsky, another victim, wrote,
“Hillary Clinton wanted it on record that she was lashing out at her
husband’s mistress. She may have faulted her husband for being
inappropriate, but I find her impulse to blame the woman, not only me,
but herself, troubling.”
Fast-forward
to the primary campaign where she stood on the stage when her
surrogate, Madeline Albright said, “There's a special place in hell for
women who don't help other women.” Then there was feminist Gloria
Steinem who actually insulted women, claiming, “Young women back Bernie
because the boys are with Bernie.” It seems anyone who disagrees with
Hillary Clinton and does not want her to be president is made out to be
sexist.
Also
speaking at the convention was former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who
denounced Donald Trump. This is from someone who wants to take away
Americans’ civil rights as he called for a ban on the sale of many
sweetened drinks in containers larger than 16 ounces, and has pledged
$50 million to his new organization that supports gun control. Too bad
his bans did not include the stoppage of building a Mega Mosque in 2013,
approximately two blocks from Ground Zero.
Now
the Democrats are trying to spin the email controversy by claiming
Trump has a relationship with Putin. As many have pointed out, if these
emails or the 33,000 deleted ones were just personal why are they so
upset? Perhaps, because Russia and other adversaries were able to hack
them and there is national security implications. Americans should
actually agree with Trump to know what information Russia does have and
more importantly that Clinton’s server was unsecure and that the emails
were compromised.
Democrats
called the Republican Convention doom and gloom but a better
description would be realistic. Polls consistently find that more than
70% of Americans do not like the way the country is headed. Possibly
because of the recent terrorist attacks or the rhetoric of the Obama
Administration. Remember in 2008 when Michelle Obama said, “People in
this country are ready for change and hungry for a different kind of
politics and ... for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my
country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback.” Or
when President Obama said how “America’s shown arrogance, and been
dismissive, even derisive" toward Europe. He also said how the power and
authority of the United States had diminished in recent years. If this
is not doom and gloom then what is?
Finally,
Donald Trump is criticized for not having the temperament to be
President and that he has no experience in foreign affairs. Well,
Hillary Clinton is far from the poster child for someone who had made
great decisions regarding America’s national security. There are so
many examples to draw upon. But just looking at her recent 60 Minutes interview
people can see she does not believe in Harry Truman’s philosophy “The
Buck Stops Here.” Her motto is to kick the blame down the road.
Listening to what she had to say is astounding that she, as the head of
the State Department, was not engaged. Her comments about Benghazi, “It
was not my ball to carry. It was very – be -- read the -- read the
reports. Read all of the reports, all many hundreds of pages of them,
including this latest one, which was a political exercise from the very
beginning. Those never reached me. Those never came to my attention.”
Instead
of criticizing Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton should look in the
mirror. What she faults Donald Trump for are her own inadequacies. She
criticizes Donald Trump for lacking experience, but has accomplished
nothing. She lies and name calls those who disagree with her including
victims of abuse. If anyone should not be running for President it is
Hillary Clinton.
