A Kansas water park and the world’s tallest water slide remained closed Monday while authorities investigated the death of the 10-year-old son of a state lawmaker on the park’s “Elected Officials Day.” An autopsy was conducted Monday on the body of Caleb Schwab, who died Sunday at the Schlitterbahn Water Park in Kansas City, Kan. Caleb was riding the Verrückt — German for “insane” — a slide that drops riders at 65 mph from a height of almost 169 feet. Marketing materials include the slogan “R U Insane?” Bigger and faster is a recurring theme for Schlitterbahn Water-parks & Resorts, which this summer opened what it describes as the world’s tallest water coaster at its Texas park, Schlitterbahn Galveston Island. The Massiv — German for “massive” — is a cross between a roller coaster and a water slide. Caleb was the son of state Rep. Scott Schwab and his wife, Michele, of Olathe, Kan. GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Three people who fell 30 to 45 feet from a Ferris wheel in Tennessee were responsive and answering questions Monday night, police said. The oldest of the three who fell from the ride at a county fairground is a 16-old-girl, according to Greeneville Police Detective Capt. Tim Davis. The detective told The Greeneville Sun that officers were interviewing witnesses to determine what happened. "We treat it like a crime scene until we determine there's no foul play," Davis said. "We don't know at this time what caused the accident." The company that runs the midway will have 24 hours to file a report with state regulators and have a third-party safety inspection, he said. All of the people who fell were taken to a children's hospital in Johnson City — two by helicopter and one by ambulance — according to Greene County-Greeneville EMS Operations Director T.J. Manis.
