I
have provided today's latest news, of which there are just too many for
me to single-out and comment about, plus I am on-the-road and currently
trans-versing the beautiful state of Utah, heading north into the back
country. And as a tidbit of information for survivalists.....I would
venture to say, one safe area I can share with you, is the area from
Kanab to I-70 on, off or near Hwy 89. Plenty of resources for
sustainable living off the grid.
Each
summer, I try to hit the back roads for safe locations, if the
SHTF.....and by having multiple choices, allows me and others to select
the best location for the event at hand. Of course....you need a fully
self contained RV, or at least a tent. Those with big bucks and/or have
homes in the city....sell it, buy land in safe areas of the west. You
know by now....it will be the cities that go full scale Martial Law, but
of course, it's the ranchers that have owned land in the west for
decades, of which the government wants. There is an in between approach
to this growing problem though. Don't jump on the first place you
see......

Recently
we reported that Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe was under
investigation by the FBI and prosecutors from the Justice Department's
integrity unit regarding donations to McAuliffe's campaign during his
time as a board member of the Clinton Global Initiative. Specifically,
investigators were scrutinizing a $120,000 donation McAuliffe received
from Wang Wenliang, a Chinese businessman, who was also a donor to the
Clinton foundation, pledging $2 million.

Russian
military analyst Sergei Ishchenko comments on the US military's
apparent plans to increase their presence on the Black Sea coast of
Bulgaria, and the possible threat to the Crimean peninsula this may
pose. US Ambassador to Bulgaria Eric Rubin confirmed late last week that
the United States would deploy additional troops to the country and
conduct more training exercises beginning next year. The move, Rubin
said, would be part of an overall boost in US capabilities deployed in
the Black Sea region.

Colombia
wants to produce Novartis's leukemia drug imatinib under a compulsory
license, something it is allowed to do under its trade agreement with
the USA, to bring the price down from $15,161/year (double the annual
average income) to prices like those charged in India ($803/year). This
is totally legal, and the government has only taken the step because
Novartis has refused to come to the table to negotiate. But that doesn't
mean Novartis has sat on its hands: ever since Colombia announced this
plan, the Swiss and US governments have been leaning on the country.

The
Patriot Act continues to wreak its havoc on civil liberties. Section
213 was included in the Patriot Act over the protests of privacy
advocates and granted law enforcement the power to conduct a search
while delaying notice to the suspect of the search. Known as a “sneak
and peek” warrant, law enforcement was adamant Section 213 was needed to
protect against terrorism. But the latest government report detailing
the numbers of “sneak and peek” warrants reveals that out of a total of
over 11,000 sneak and peek requests, only 51 were used for terrorism.
Yet again, terrorism concerns appear to be trampling our civil
liberties.

judge has released portions of a former police officer's heavily
redacted body-camera footage showing the moments leading up to a deadly
police-involved shooting at a Mesa, Arizona, hotel. Daniel Shaver, a
26-year-old father of two, was staying at the La Quinta Inn & Suites
in January on a work trip from Texas.

Income
inequality in the U.S. started to increase in the 1970s, and stock
market gains accompanied this increase, according to a recent Economic
Synopses essay. Assistant Vice President and Economist Michael Owyang
and Senior Research Associate Hannah Shell noted that increases in stock
prices and capital returns may benefit the wealthy more than others, as
they have better access to markets. They wrote: “Thus, as stock prices
and capital returns increase, the wealthy might benefit more than other
individuals earning income from labor.”

Significantly,
the report also reveals that Clinton and her top aides at State —
Cheryl Mills, Jake Sullivan, Huma Abedin, and possibly others — refused
to cooperate with the IG’s investigation despite the IG’s requests that
they submit to interviews. The report is devastating, although it
transparently strains to soften the blow. For example, it concludes that
State’s “longstanding systemic weaknesses” in recordkeeping “go well
beyond the tenure of any one Secretary of State.” Yet, it cannot avoid
finding that Clinton’s misconduct is singular in that she, unlike her
predecessors, systematically used private e-mail for the purpose of
evading recordkeeping requirements.

Shafer was roused from his bed this week by thunderous knocking at his
North Richland Hills, Texas home, and when he opened the door, found
himself staring down the barrel of a 'big green' assault weapon, wielded
by one of the 12-15 armed FBI agents on his lawn. Shafer, a dental
computer integrator and security researcher, had previously helped
Databreaches.net to document failings in Henryshein Dental's widely used
Dentrix software, which had been exposing sensitive patient data,
despite the company's claims that they encrypted this data (they
didn't).

Facebook will now display ads to web users who are not members of its social network, the company announced Thursday,
in a bid to significantly expand its online ad network. As The Wall
Street Journal reports, Facebook will use cookies, "like" buttons, and
other plug-ins embedded on third-party sites to track members and
non-members alike. The company says it will be able to better target
non-Facebook users and serve relevant ads to them, though its practices
have come under criticism from regulators in Europe over privacy
concerns. Facebook began displaying a banner notification at the top of
its News Feed for users in Europe today, alerting them to its use of
cookies as mandated under an EU directive.

An
infuriating video was uploaded to Facebook this week showing an
off-duty Boston cop tackling a small older man in a fit of road rage.
According to multiple witnesses, the cop nearly hit the older gentlemen
as he drove through a crosswalk. After almost being run over by the
incompetent cop, the older man, who was on foot, simply tapped the cop’s
window with his umbrella to alert him to the fact that he nearly hit
him. This tapping on the window set the cop off into a fit of rage,
leading to him chasing down, tackling, and assaulting the innocent man.
When the older gentleman saw the raging lunatic jump out of his vehicle
and chase him, he naturally ran. This set the cop off even more, and
when he finally caught up to the man, he tackled him, shoved his face
into the pavement, and put his knee in his back.

appears that America has awakened to the problem of mass
incarceration–an issue underscored by the fact that the U.S. holds less
than 5 percent of the world’s population but houses about 22 percent of
the world’s prisoners. Congress is now making a token effort at criminal
justice reform, including the reduction of mandatory minimum sentences
for nonviolent offenders, but even this faces opposition from the most
fervent police state crusaders. In the face of inaction, one New York
judge is stepping outside the box to breathe life into a much-needed
national debate. Judge Frederick Block of the Federal District Court
chose not to send a woman to prison who was convicted of felony drug
charges, instead sentencing her to probation.

Alan Greenspan issued a dire warning about the U.S. economy during an interview with Fox News on Thursday.
Greenspan said that as Venezuela descends into martial law, the U.S. is
heading in the same direction. Greenspan warned that the U.S. has “a
global problem of a shortage of productivity growth” which is leading it
into an impending disaster.
