FREEDOMWORKS 05/05/2016 HILLARY WILL CONTINUE OBAMA'S WAR ON COAL!

Hey Conservatives!
1. There's Nothing Mythical About Reaganomics - FreedomWorks Senior Economic Contributor Stephen Moore via Forbes

What is it with this obsession that liberals have with rewriting the history of the 1980s? Answer: not one bit of what really happened fits the left wing narrative about how things work in the real world.
The latest attacks on the Reagan legacy comes from Barack Obama, who is starting to wistfully defend his legacy. What a heavy lift that is.  Read more here...

Regulation Alert
Obama's U.S. Department of Agriculture proposed a new regulation that would punish schools with fines for failing to obey Michelle Obama's school lunch takeover, which includes sodium and calorie limits.

This regulation is the epitome of the progressive nanny state mentality. If your school doesn’t obey Michelle, she’ll take precious funding from them.

2. Recent Abuse of Forfeiture Law Highlights Need for Reform in Oklahoma - by Christina Delgado

FreedomWorks has been a strong supporter of civil asset forfeiture reform. In the past we’ve put forward stories like that of Mandrel Stuart whose money was seized by the Fairfax County police, leading to the eventual loss of his restaurant. Another case in North Carolina saw Lyndon McClellan’s bank account wrongfully seized by the Internal Revenue Service.
This time, in Oklahoma, a 40-year-old Texas man, Eh Wah, was stopped while traveling on the road for 12 hours towards Dallas to visit his family. Mr. Wah spent months away touring the country as a volunteer manager for a Christian rock group from Burma (also known as Myanmar) named Klo & Kweh Music Team. The Christian band toured the United States in an effort to raise funds for a Christian college in Burma and an orphanage in Thailand – certainly not your run-of-the-mill drug trafficker background. Mr. Wah was a refugee from Burma who became a United States citizen more than ten years ago. Being an immigrant whose first language is not English, Eh Wah had a difficult time understanding the police and vice versa.  Read more here...

4. Oklahoma and Georgia Governors Sign Conservative Justice Reform Bills into Law - by Joseph Donoso

This past Wednesday, Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin signed a package of justice reform bills into law, making the Sooner State the latest conservative state to adopt these “smart-on-crime” policies. That same day, Gov. Nathan Deal, on the other side of the country in Georgia, signed a smaller justice reform package into law, expanding on the state’s already impressive portfolio of justice reform initiatives. With the simultaneous adoption of these justice reform measures into law, conservative states like Oklahoma and Georgia are the pioneers in effective justice reform.
The Oklahoma justice reform package is a group of four bills that primarily deals with limiting the harsh punitive measures taken against non-violent offenders. These new laws would give district attorneys and courts more leeway when dealing with people charged with drug possession, allowing them to classify the charges as misdemeanors and opening up the possibilities for alternate forms of treatment rather than jail time. One such law, HB 2479, reforms the state’s three-strike felony policy for drug-related felonies, lowering the mandatory minimum sentences for people charged with felonies for the first, second, and third time. Gov. Fallin had been extremely supportive of these measures since the beginning of the legislative session, mentioning such justice reform efforts in her State of the State speech.  Read more here...
5. Hillary Clinton Will Continue Obama's War on Coal
Following Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton’s comments about the decline of the coal industry in the United States, FreedomWorks CEO Adam Brandon responded:
“The reason the coal industry is suffering in this country is because of the policies of the Obama administration. When he first ran for president, Barack Obama made it clear that he intended to bankrupt the coal industry. When he couldn’t get his destructive cap-and-trade plan through Congress, he used the EPA to promulgate regulations on the coal industry that will cost our economy between $29 billion and $39 billion annually.”
“If Hillary Clinton was serious about helping the economies of coal states, she would pledge to reverse the regulatory onslaught of the Obama administration. Unfortunately, she has already indicated that she plans to continue waging the war on coal and double down on radical environmental policies that are devastating coal states and destroying jobs.” Read more here...
