Conservatives,
Yesterday,
the White House announced that it is reversing course and withdrawing
its plan to allow energy development in the Atlantic. It’s a move that
appeases anti-energy extremists at the cost of an opportunity to create
tens of thousands of jobs and expand America’s energy security.
While
the administration’s disappointing decision represents an obstacle for
our industry, it comes in the face of a strong effort by Energy Nation
to expand offshore access. Thanks to all Energy Nation members for everything you’ve done in support of developing America’s domestic energy resources.
Let’s
use this setback as a reason to double-down on our effort to make
energy part of this year’s election. There is no question that oil and
natural gas will be critical to our economy, our communities, and
household budgets for decades to come. Are candidates—at all levels of
government—willing to put forth energy platforms that are based upon
this reality?
When
candidates talk about alternative energy or an “all-of-the-above”
strategy, do they acknowledge the critical role played by natural gas in
lowering our nation’s carbon emissions? We need to let candidates know
that if they’re unwilling to discuss sensible solutions for America’s
energy future, then they’ll lose our vote.
Thanks again for your support—and for being a part of Energy Nation.
