Dear Conservatives, Obama is taking the old adage "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" to a whole new level. This week, the president made a highly publicized (and politicized) visit to the Islamic Society of Baltimore - an American mosque with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qaeda, and the Taliban. The mosque, according to Obama, has "an All-American story." The question is: which story is the President telling? A story of all religions being equal? "Think of your own church or synagogue or temple," he said on Wednesday, "And mosques like this will be very familiar. This is where families come to worship and express their love for God and for each other." But this particular mosque hasn't been just a place of worship. It's been the petri dish for radical Islamist thought. For fifteen years, the mosque was served by former imam and member of the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan, Mohamad Adam El-Sheikh. During his time at the mosque in Baltimore, he served as regional director from the Islamic American Relief Agency - the international parent organization of which has been cited by the U.S. Treasury Department for connections to Al Qaeda and the Taliban. After leaving his position in Baltimore, El-Sheikh went on to become a top Al Qaeda affiliate operative in Yemen and was finally killed in a U.S. drone strike in 2011. Last year, I said our government was standing idly by while terrorism was being manufactured in radical American mosques. But the situation is much worse than that now. No longer just STANDING IDLE, this administration is now STANDING BY radical American mosques, and it's doing it under the auspices of religious freedom and goodwill. It's no secret that those who will lead the next attack on America have grown up and gone to school here. FBI reports and eyewitness accounts have made it clear that a large number of the mosques in the United States urge their congregations to wage jihad against the infidels (us) and impose Sharia Law first on all Muslims and then on all Americans. This is sedition, not religion. Sharia Law is not only barbaric - justifying murder, the oppression of women, and the annihilation of other religions - but it's also incompatible with the U.S. Constitution. One cannot be a strict adherent of Sharia Law and still swear an oath to our Constitution. Yet, we allow Sharia to be advanced on a daily basis in hundreds of mosques across America. Three major studies in the last 10 years have all found the same results. Over 75% of the 2,000 mosques in America are "radicalized." And what does radicalized mean?
So why do I tell you about these centers of hatred in our midst? Because the Freedom Center has launched a nationwide campaign to educate Americans about the truth of these radical mosques and how Islamists are using the principle of religious freedom to hide incitements to violence. We need to act now. This is why Robert Spencer, my colleague here at the Freedom Center and a national expert on radical Islam to wrote a pamphlet called Subversive Mosques, coauthored by Pamela Geller. It has documented the way many Islamic houses of worship have been turned into recruitment centers for the jihad. I am using Subversive Mosques to break down the conspiracy of silence and forcing a frank and open, no-holds-barred national conversation about this problem. I want to get this vitally important work into the hands of public officials all over the country, to Members of Congress, Governors, and State Legislators. I want to get it into the hands of the media and force the talking heads to talk about this critical issue. I need your help to put the subject of subversive mosques on the front burner of our political dialogue. Our 2016 budget for this project is $150,000. That will allow us to put a quarter million copies of Subversive Mosques into national circulation before it is too late to talk about this dagger pointed at the heart of America. I hope you will help us today, and for your contribution $35 or more today, I will of course send you a copy of Subversive Mosques. But more importantly I will get it into the hands of the government officials and the opinion makers who must do something about this clear and present danger. Thank you for all your support of my work and the Center. Sincerely, David Horowitz |
