Conservatives, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) did it again. Yesterday, he announced that he won't even try to stop funding for Planned Parenthood. "We just don’t have the votes," McConnell said. He's wrong about that. It only takes 41 votes in the Senate to block a bill that funds Planned Parenthood. But instead of standing up to the president, McConnell preemptively surrendered... again. "The president made it very clear he is not going to sign any bill that includes defunding of Planned Parenthood," McConnell added. "That's another issue that awaits a new president." This is exactly the opposite of what Senator McConnell said last year when he was campaigning to be Majority Leader. Then, he promised to use the power of the purse to stop liberal policies. "We're going to pass spending bills, and they're going to have a lot of restrictions on the activities of the bureaucracy," McConnell said. "That’s something he won't like, but that will be done. I guarantee it." That was a flat-out lie. Now, after voters handed Republicans a majority in the Senate, McConnell says he won't put anything in a spending bill that the president doesn't like. Unfortunately, McConnell's betrayal goes beyond this one issue. In the past eight months, he has kicked out all three legs of the Republican stool.
If Senator McConnell wants to give taxpayer funding to an organization that takes the life of innocent children and sells their body parts, then he should be forced to do it alone and every American should know about it. If you haven't signed our petition urging Congress to stop funding for Planned Parenthood, please do so right now. We will send you specific instructions on the steps you can take to help block funding for this barbaric organization. We just need 41 Republicans to oppose cloture to defeat the continuing resolution (CR) later this month. Also, please make a contribution to Senate Conservatives Action. Your support will help us mobilize tens of thousands of people across the country to send Washington a message. Thank you for standing strong for freedom. Sincerely, Ken Cuccinelli II President Senate Conservatives Action Please share this on Facebook and Twitter. |
