What a Brilliant Definition ...
For the last some odd years, almost all of the things I wanted to write or say, have been stymied by that modern term
referred to as 'POLITICAL CORRECTNESS'. Although I consider myself reasonably fluent in English, that term was
not in my vocabulary. Curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to do a little research, and after two weeks of
chasing fruitless leads, I found what I'd been looking for at the Truman Library and Museum in Independence, Missouri.
An unnamed source there sent me copies of four telegrams between then-President Harry Truman and
Gen Douglas MacArthur on the day before the actual signing of the WW2 Surrender Agreement in September 1945..
The contents of those four telegrams below are exactly as received at the end of the war
- not a word has been added or deleted !

A LITTLE COMMON SENSE GOES A LONG WAY
It always kind of amuses me in a way how things are taken to extremes at times-like
political correctness and the list authored by self appointed word police.
Some words are blatantly offensive regardless of context, and most people understand that-others when cited in historical context or literature should be viewed in that context-not all, but some, as they stand as an historical record that should not be forgotten.
No one as far as I know is calling for Mein Kampf to be banned or revised, yet other books like Huckleberry Finn need to be “revised”.
I oppose such things as they amount to little more than a modern burning of books, a whitewashing of history-for me I follow a simple guide line-if a book offends I don’t read it-or maybe I will to gain historical or social insight, as a great deal of history is offensive.
Many indigenous people will get upset at the word redskin or skins-yet will employ it themselves-and it is the same with other ethnicities -kind of a mystery to me, but then it has to do with who and how I suppose-but a contradictory and sorry standard to provide nonetheless.
Political correctness taken to the extreme should involve dogs for example, as the word dog is often used as a perjorative and is an insult to dogs if we are to be politically correct in all things. How about referring to female dogs as bitches-is that politically correct with the connotations that have become attached to it?
No, what I say is dogs should be referred to as Canine Americans and given all due respect-after all they are “man’s best friend”, some undergo weddings, enter beauty pageants, wear high fashion, eat at the same table as their human counterparts, have lavish funerals, and even have resorts and massage therapists tailored specifically to them.
I’m thinking maybe to create a foundation to this end to advocate for the politically correct linguistic treatment of dogs, I mean Canine Americans.
Of course a need will arise to solicit donations so I’ll get back to you about that.
We need to get real people-the mantra now when opposing speech as expressed is to characterize it as hate speech-some may well be, but the lines are becoming increasingly blurred and too often abused. It is too easy to stifle free speech under that guise.
There is a “discussion” going on now among the Grahamites that the petition for Annie Mae is “hate speech” among other things-this is the idiocy I speak of-an idiocy that never makes mention of the “hate speech” coming from their side, of which there are reams of examples.An idiocy that that seeks to marginalize a search for truth and justice.
But it is the predictable argument of choice -what is seen as an easy claim to make to stifle opposing views and the truth, a claim that requires little more than their personal “outrage”.
No doubt some will assert these words I’ve expressed here are a form of hate speech-to that I will add this discussion I have mentioned and the context of it is pathetic, that I believe those with nothing better to do than foment and engage in it are pathetic themselves.
Will that be construed as hate speech? have at it for I have merely stated an opinion, an observation, and what seems to be an obvious truth-if that qualifies I could care less and will continue to voice my opinions.
I had a Catholic priest tell me once that in former times if a person (reads Catholic) was a slave owner it was okay, no sin involved because it was a socially acceptable, a part of culture-and that is why I say we need to insure that history and attitudes like this remain known so as not to be repeated.
A lot of things have been “socially acceptable” that no longer are, and they are a part of the fabric of this country that by whatever tortuous path led it to where it is today-and it must not be forgotten.
In our rush to be politically correct common sense should be something other than a victim. ###

The Parable of Political Correctness

Once upon a time in a land called Society, there lived a Mayor Morality and his wife Mrs. Manners. For many, many years Society was happy with their Mayor and his gracious and beautiful wife. Society had its issues but people knew how to behave because they were guided by Morality and Manners.
Then one day a strange man moved into town. He was unkempt and crude. His name was Moral Relativity. He began telling Society that Morality and Manners were keeping Society from having fun and fulfilling their best destiny. He told them that there were other ways to think about things and that Morality and Manners were being oppressive.
So an election was held for Mayor and Moral Relativity won. He didn’t want a rival for his newly one office so he killed Morality and then kidnapped Manners. He tortured her until she lost her mind. Her pronouncements that were once clear and understandable became distorted. She was no longer gracious and became militant. She even gave herself a new name Political Correctness.
But Society became disorganized and people did whatever they wanted to. Murders increased, theft, and all sorts of crime were rampant and people were rude to each other. Society was in disarray and was starting to blame Moral Relativity.
In an effort to maintain his hold on Society, he called upon Political Correctness to try to bring some order to Society. However she had lost her mind and contradicted herself. Society became more and more disorganized.
However, there were some in Society that longed for the days of Morality and Manners. They taught their children to follow the example that Morality and Manners had left.
The moral of the story is if Society hadn’t allowed Moral Relativity in, then Morality wouldn’t be dead and Political Correctness would still be called Manners. ###
