Jenny Beth Martin Testifies in the Senate about
IRS Targeting:
Our
co-founder Jenny Beth Martin and our legal counsel Cleta Mitchell
testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee about
IRS targeting of Americans for their political views. Jenny Beth told
Subcommittee Chairman Sen. Ted Cruz and his colleagues,"The tea party
movement has been targeted by the White House and the President’s
henchmen in the IRS, maligned by the Republican establishment who talk a
good
game and want our votes – but are ready to ditch our principles the day
they are sworn in...They underestimated one thing: Our country is more
important to us than the IRS with its intimidation tactics, more
important to us than a President who thinks this is a laughing matter
when nothing
could be further from the truth, and more important to us than anyone
else in any government agency or elected office who wants to stop us."

Ex-Im Bank Still Expired...For Now:
This
week, Senate Majority
Leader Mitch McConnell and some of his colleagues tried to revive the
Ex-Im Bank by passing an amendment and attaching it to an unrelated
highway
bill. Activists called, emailed and contacted their Senators using
social media to oppose the Ex-Im Bank and its cronyism and corporate
welfare.
Thanks to the House of Representatives' refusal to take up the
Senate-passed highway bill, the Ex-Im Bank will remain expired..for now.

Our Efforts in the Fight Against Illegal Immigration:
Sadly, the subject of violence
committed by illegal immigrants has been in the news frequently over the
past
few weeks. This is an issue that we have been aware of for some time and
thanks to our supporters we have been able to actively highlight this
problem
for the last few years. Back in the summer of 2013, we held a press
conference at the U.S. Capitol highlighting some of the victims of the
crimes of illegal immigrants. We brought them to DC so that Members of
Congress could hear their stories directly. We believed then, as we do
now,
that this is an integral part of the immigration discussion. To find out

Fire The Speaker:
Congressman
Mark Meadows of North Carolina has filed a resolution to declare that
the Office of the Speaker is vacant. His
resolution charges that Speaker John Boehner has: 1) Consolidated power
and decision-making, bypassing the 435 Members of Congress and the
people they
represent. 2) Rendered Congress subservient to the Executive and
Judicial Branches, diminishing the voice of the American people. 3) Used
the power of
his office to punish Members of Congress who vote according to their
conscience. And 4) Consistently provided voice votes on controversial
legislation
without notice in order to pass it without resistance. Sign our petition if you think it is time for Speaker John Boehner to be replaced as Speaker of the House!
