They're Laughing At You...
Untold numbers of criminal illegal aliens who are openly provided "sanctuary" from our nation's immigration laws and who commit criminal acts across this nation are laughing. Yet Barack Obama and hundreds of Democrat party bosses across the country just shrug their shoulders as your tax dollars fund what amounts to massive preventable crime spree. That's right, they're enabling a crime spree and you're paying for it. But you can help stop this insanity today. Senator Tom Cotton has proposed a measure that would prohibit so-called "sanctuary cities" from receiving law enforcement grants from the federal government and the action that you take today can force this legislation onto Barack Obama's desk and force him to sign it into law. You already know the tragic story of Kate Steinle. She was brutally murdered by a seven-time felon and five-time deportee who admits that he hung his hat in San Francisco because of the city's sanctuary policy. Liberal politicians actually have the nerve to tell us that, while tragic, Steinle's murder is just an isolated incident... That's a bold-faced lie. Hans von Spakovsky, a senior legal fellow at The Heritage Foundation, quoted a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report that examined the crimes committed by 55,322 illegal aliens who were in the country illegally at the time of their incarceration in a federal, state prison or local jail: These 55,322 criminal illegal aliens were arrested a total of 459,614 times for approximately 700,000 criminal offenses. 97 percent of these criminal illegal aliens had more than one arrest, 26 percent had over 11 arrests and 10 percent of these illegal aliens were arrested for committing 26 or more offenses. And out of all of the arrests, 12 percent were for violent crimes such as murder, robbery, assault and sex-related crimes; 15 percent were for burglary, larceny, theft and property damage; 24 percent were for drug offenses; and the remaining offenses were for DUI, fraud, forgery, counterfeiting, weapons, immigration and obstruction of justice. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. This GAO study was published in 2005, long before Barack Obama opened the floodgates and the report only examines criminal illegal aliens who were incarcerated at the time of the study. It did not include the criminal illegal aliens who were roaming the streets and it did not include crimes that went unreported. Make no mistake... the "sanctuary" policies of hundreds of U.S. cities openly flout U.S. immigration laws; thereby enabling this madness and the insanity must stop today. According to Jessica Vaughan with the Center for Immigration Studies; "More than 300 jurisdictions now refuse to turn over criminal aliens to ICE." But again, as previously mentioned, the left is trying to advance a narrative that the case of Kate Steinle is just an isolated incident... it's not. Vaughan: "According to ICE records, from January 1 to August 31, 2014, more than 8,100 deportable aliens were released after arrest in approximately 300 local sanctuary jurisdictions, even though ICE had issued a detainer seeking custody in advance of deporting them." And yet, all of these sanctuary jurisdictions receive money from Uncle Sugar in the form of federal law enforcement grants. In essence, liberal Democrats across the country are telling patriotic tax-paying Americans: Thanks for the money, suckers... now go and pound sand. As Senator Rand Paul recently told Laura Ingraham about our immigration laws: "They're being flouted and basically laughed at by cities like San Francisco. There ought to be a revolution of folks saying, 'We want you to obey the law,' and making sure the president hears them loud and clear." That's why Senator Tom Cotton is pushing a measure to withhold those funds from these localities until they get with the program: "The senseless murder of a young woman in San Francisco last week tragically illustrates that the politicization of the immigration debate has now swamped even common-sense efforts to protect public safety. It is unacceptable that cities would issue ordinances that explicitly aim to frustrate federal immigration laws that are supposed to keep illegal immigrant felons off the streets. U.S. taxpayers shouldn't be expected to support such misguided local policies that put their safety in jeopardy. No matter their political affiliation, local officials should support the rule of law and protect the safety of all Americans." Vaughan again: "The only truly effective and lasting solution to override the current patchwork of policies is for Congress to spell out in federal law that local law-enforcement agencies must cooperate with ICE or face sanctions in the form of disqualification from certain kinds of federal funding." Is passing Senator Cotton’s no-nonsense measure too much to ask? In Washington, the reflexive answer is yes and that's simply unacceptable.
