DRIVE-BY MUTHINGS
OK, so the cops learn about a convention in Las Vegas over
the weekend featuring medical marijuana vendors. As such, they suspect they’ll find some
people there who are using the drug unlawfully.
Sure enough, they stalk the place and bust a dozen people who were
breaking the law.
Sounds like profiling to me.
But more importantly, if it’s genius police detective work
to hang out at a place where it’s highly likely they’ll find some people who
are breaking the law and haul them off, why don’t they do the same thing at all
these illegal immigration rallies?

Nevada Republican Rep. Joe
Heck is reportedly 95% sure to get into the U.S. Senate race to challenge
Democrat Sister Catherine Cortez-Masto’s
bid to fill Harry Reid’s sixth term.
Some seem to think Heck’s final decision depends on what
Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval ultimately
decides to do about the race, but I suspect Heck couldn’t care less what “America’s
Worst Governor” does…and would gladly face off against him in a GOP primary.
Of more significance and importance is what the only
announced GOP candidate in the race, conservative Las Vegas City Councilman Bob Beers, does if Heck jumps in.

The state Senate has now approved an incumbent-protection
bill sought by Gov. Brian Sandoval
and the GOP establishment that would move Nevada’s primary elections from June
to February. That would mean all those
mean campaign mailers and hit pieces will start hitting your home right around
the holidays in December.
Oh, joy to the world!
All of the Democrats in the Senate voted against the
“Christmas primary.” If all of the
Democrats in the Assembly also vote against it, we’ll need only four common
sense conservative Republicans to kill this very, very, VERY bad idea.
Uh-oh.

Although I stopped chronicling Grammar King Jon Ralston’s typos and grammar
mistakes long ago – as it turned out to be close to a full-time job – I still
enjoy watching him screw up by doing the same things he slams others for doing,
such as this twit-tweet he put out on Wednesday morning…
“Even the newspaper’ gets iit on Uber:”
What’s an “iit”?
FAMOUS LAST WORDS
“Making Uber legal and subjecting its riders to a new tax should
be two separate policy questions. Would
lawmakers even consider taxing taxicab rides if the Uber bill weren’t before
them? Probably not. Uber simply happened to provide senators with
an opportunity to create more state spending.” – Las Vegas Review-Journal
