 State of the Dictatorship
President Obama is a big
proponent of recycling -- and he's proven it with his last several State
of the Union speeches. While America's problems keep piling up, the
White House keeps trotting out the same tired solutions. Early reports
of tomorrow's address suggest that the President is intent on regifting
the failed priorities of the past five years -- only this time, he isn't
asking Congress, he's telling them.
Legislating is tough
business -- too tough, apparently, for President Obama. This year, the
White House has a not-so-new strategy for muscling through its agenda:
unilateralism. Tomorrow night, as part of his push for climate change,
infrastructure spending, and education, the President plans on declaring
his independence -- from Congress. Taking what his staff calls a "pen and phone"
approach, the administration is gearing up for a season light on
consensus and heavy on executive orders. "We need to show the American
people that we can get something done, either with Congress or on our
own," said the White House's Dan Pfeiffer.

I wish I had a nickel for every prediction of social unrest
in China that I've read in the past year. Apart from the risk
of stampedes at shopping malls before the Lunar New Year,
China is tranquil. Meanwhile there are several dozen dead in
Cairo overnight, central Bangkok remains under lockdown,
street protests are out of control in Ukraine, Argentines are
looting stores during power outages, and the stink of tear gas
still overhangs the public squares of Istanbul from last
year's demonstrations.There is social unrest in a lot of places other than China, and it goes together with the collapse of local currencies. The Chinese aren't rioting because they are gainfully occupied and their wages are rising 15% to 20% a year. Other so-called emerging markets are in trouble because they are teeming with people who have nothing remunerative to do. |

“The
House-Senate agreement announced this evening is a positive step in
the right direction. The measure will not only save taxpayers
approximately $23 billion, it also includes important reforms to both
farm and food stamp programs. While I hoped many of these reforms
would go further, the status quo is simply unacceptable. I have voted
against the last two Farm Bills because, in my view, they made farm and
food stamp policy worse rather than better. This legislation,
however, is worthy of the House’s support. Chairman Lucas and his
colleagues should be commended for the important reforms they secured
in this agreement.”

Busted! The Democratic Party's Moral Superiority
Many analysts of national news media have noted that there is a double standard with regard to how the media report the behavioral faux pas of Republican versus Democratic politicians.
But
there is a far more important difference between the two national
parties and their moral postures. This difference is revealed when one
compares the campaign rhetoric used by the DNC to the behavior of
Democratic officials at the local, state, and national levels once they
have achieved positions of power.
While
Democrats have a set script with regard to campaign rhetoric -- they
demonize Republicans while claiming that only Democrats are concerned
for the needy and less privileged -- in order to understand their true
character, it is necessary to look at how they behave once they are in
power. This is most clearly revealed through how they respond to
perceived threats to their control of money.
Democrats
have shown a consistent inability to balance budgets at the local,
state, and national level. And after creating a fiscal crisis, Democrats
always say that if they are not given more money "essential services"
will be cut back. This implies that they will make the voters suffer if
they are unable to persuade the GOP to give them more money by raising
the deficit ceiling; revealing that they practice moral blackmail as standard operating procedure. Last year President Obama went out of his way to close off the WW II memorial to visiting veterans.

There is a virtual blackout in the Western press re. the upcoming testimony but this a.m. I saw Snowden on Deutsche Welle being fitted with a mike somewhere in Russia, presumably in preparation for his upcoming televised testimony to a court in Europe, probably in Berlin, regarding the NSA massive spying program as it relates to ex ally Europe.
This is the hottest news item out there and it is being spiked by the press.
The Russian language article cites German Justice Minister Sabine Leuthäuser-Schnarrenberger speaking to this case and saying "illegal wiretapping is a crime and the perpetrator must be brought to justice."
Stunning words from a high official in a country that not too long ago was a virtual lapdog of Washington.
You can make whatever you want out of that, but there is little doubt in Germany that Barack would be the perp.

It’s
really sad how many of these immigrants I have met are hardworking,
fine and decent people. Yet, in spite of how nice some immigrants are,
it appears to me that so many softhearted Americans somehow can’t see
the end result of “uncontrolled” immigration...
You
all might recall that my maternal grandmother came to America in 1897
from Lapland/Finland (about 60,000 emigrants left Finland during that
decade) while age-old Sami ways of life were brutally interrupted by the
increasing economic and political Russian oppression, and Soviet
collectivization of the reindeer husbandry and agriculture. The degree
to which Finnish immigrants were distrusted and often shunned and even
the communities into which they moved was disproportionately high
compared to their immigrant neighbors. Nevertheless, she went through
the process of becoming an American Citizen and had to learn to speak
English and understand civics for that to happen.
I
ask in my head why this process has been discontinued? (Have you ever
watched how Mexico City or similar areas are governed today?)(Boris
Bazhanov's Memoirs of Stalin's Former Secretary,
published in 1992 near the end of chapter five, reads as follows
(loosely translated with the help of Google): "You know, comrades," says
Stalin, "that I think in regard to this: I consider it completely

appears that King Sortero/Obama and his Congressional lapdogs seek to
further skew the voting in the US by inducing a flow of immigrant people

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A judge has refused to dismiss a lawsuit over Nebraska's denial of driver's licenses to immigrants who came into the country illegally as children with their families.
District Judge Jeffre
Cheuvront on Wednesday rejected the state's request,

In August 2012,
Republican Gov. Dave
Heineman declared that Nebraska would deny driver's
licenses to the immigrants who became eligible to avoid
deportation and work in the U.S. as a result of the Deferred
Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Several
months later he said Nebraska would vigorously defend its
policy, even if the state were sued.
The American
Civil Liberties Union had filed the lawsuit in June
on behalf of four Omaha residents. The lawsuit says
Nebraska officials violated state law that requires state
agencies to go through a public hearing and comment period
before making significant changes to state rules and
regulations. The lawsuit says the policy also violates the
state constitution's right to due process.

The nine justices of the United States Supreme Court are considering arguments made by National Right to Work Foundation staff attorneys that forced union dues for civil servants are incompatible with the First Amendment.
Over the years, Foundation staff attorneys have fought tooth-and-nail for independent-minded workers, winning many limited protections -- protections union bosses frequently go out of their way to violate or ignore.
A new Foundation-won victory highlights once again the need for full Right to Work protections.
