OBAMACARE - THINGS ARE GETTING WORSE! 100,000 NEW CANCELLATIONS LOOM!
Dear Conservatives,
You probably remember that health insurance companies were happy to sign on to ObamaCare.
Not only did it promise to force millions of people onto their rolls, but it also guaranteed them a taxpayer-funded bailout for whatever losses they take from insuring ObamaCare enrollees for anything that went south.
A win-win for tax-and-spenders and insurance companies everywhere.
But for everyone else, ObamaCare continues to be a disaster.
So far, the law has cancelled an estimated 4.5 million insurance plans against their customers’ will, and is projected to eliminate at least 2.5 million jobs.
And things are still getting worse.
The millions of cancellations we’ve seen so far were individual plans . . . the other shoe, employer-based insurance, hasn’t even dropped yet.
Back in 2010, the Obama Administration’s internal analysis predicted ObamaCare would kill 78 million employer-sponsored plans, and now health policy analysts conclude that could be as many as 100 million.
Of course, even the employers who manage to keep insuring their employees will be saddled with costs that force them to make other expensive changes.
A recent report to Congress by the Chief Actuary of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services predicts that ObamaCare’s mandates will spike insurance premiums for at least 65 percent of small businesses.
Businesses such as the Gator’s Dockside restaurant chain in Florida are responding to these cost hikes by adding an ObamaCare surcharge onto every transaction, which of course affects all customers.
But they fear even that may not be enough to keep them afloat, which is why signs on their front doors and every table warn customers that “the costs associated with ACA compliance could ultimately close our doors.”
And in the face of all this, Barack Obama’s only so-called “solutions” are to paper over disasters as they arise with a delay here and a temporary exemption there.
The fact is, he’s just nibbling at the edges that get headlines while ignoring the fact that ObamaCare is a hopelessly flawed concept at its core.
The one fix that would give us a positive outlook for the future is repeal.
Sincerely,
Gary Paumen, President
National League of Taxpayers
