The San Francisco Democrats Finally Rule the Roost
In 1984, Jeane Kirkpatrick, a lifelong Democrat who Ronald Reagan appointed Ambassador to the United Nations, took to the stage at the Republican National Convention in Dallas. The Republicans and this Democrat roundly mocked the unseriousness of the Democrats who wanted to replace Ronald Reagan. Calling them “San Francisco Democrats” — the Democrats had held their convention in San Francisco — Kirkpatrick delivered many broadsides that ring true today. As she said of these San Francisco Democrats, “they always blame America first.”

The San Francisco Democrats in 1984 included the Lt. Governor Massachusetts who, that year, would be elected to the Senate — John F. Kerry. Within months of taking his Senate seat, Kerry and Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa would head to Nicaragua and help the Soviet backed Daniel Ortega. Through Kerry’s efforts, the House of Representatives scuttled funding the Western backed Contras. The Soviet Union then poured money in to help Oretega’s Sandinistas.

The San Francisco Democrats who blame America first are now in charge of our foreign policy. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

How to Lie Your Way Through a Primary
The defeat of former Senators Richard Lugar (R-IN) and Bob Bennett (R-UT) in their respective primaries in 2010 has engendered a new paradigm in GOP politics.  No longer do liberal Republicans run honestly on their records in the primaries.  That would create a recipe for instant defeat.  Instead, they lie their way through the primaries, painting themselves as conservative heroes, and often tainting their conservative challengers as unreliable conservatives. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) was the first to pioneer this strategy in 2012.  Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has followed this strategy to a tee.  The two most recent examples are Reps. Mike Simpson (R-ID) and Renee Ellmers (R-NC). . . . please click here for the rest of the post

The Beltway GOP Establishment is Pushing a Pro-Abortion Senate Candidate on Oregon
The national narrative today suggests that the chances of the Republican Party taking over the Senate in November are increasing as the map of competitive races expands.

One of the states that the pundits are increasingly talking about is Oregon.  If you are listening to the Beltway establishment, including Rove, you would think that there is only one Republican candidate running in Oregon — Dr. Monica Wehby.  . . . please click here for the rest of the post
