NEVADA - VOTE AGAINST 'MARGIN TAX' IT IS NOT FOR US!

This fall, Nevadans will vote on a ballot initiative that would impose a costly new “Margin Tax” on employers operating in our state. This proposed tax would damage small businesses, cost thousands of new and existing jobs, and make it nearly impossible to attract new businesses looking to invest in Nevada.
Under this scheme, a 2% Margin Tax would be imposed on thousands of businesses with gross annual revenues of $1 million or more — even if they make no profit!

Even businesses with less than $1 million in gross revenues would not be safe from the Margin Tax Initiative because it would give the legislature unlimited authority, after three years, to: increase the tax rate, lower the revenue threshold at which it must be paid, or broaden the tax to apply to even more businesses — without any further vote of the people.
Because this tax would be on gross revenues, not profits, it would be the equivalent of a nearly 15% corporate income tax — almost twice the corporate tax rate in California.
If this initiative passes, Nevada would become one of the five highest-taxed states in the country for business owners.

This $750 million annual tax increase would also create a whole new IRS-like state bureaucracy to implement its complicated requirements. And there is no oversight, review, or accountability to prevent politicians and bureaucrats from spending it however they want.
The Margin Tax Initiative would also increase prices for consumers like you. As businesses pass on some or all of their tax increase to us, we would pay more for our food, clothing, gas, electricity, phones, medical care, and prescriptions — the list goes on and on.
