Detroit bankruptcy – this is what happens if you vote Democrat for 51 years
I’ve been to Detroit and I won’t be hurrying back. I’ve never been surrounded
by such appalling poverty in a Western country – rows and rows of public
housing, every window broken, every door barred. I was advised to take a cab
everywhere and to avoid the sidewalk at all costs. The gas station near my motel
was a notorious hangout for crack dealers. The only way to get any food was to
order it in, and the pizza guy refused to enter the motel itself. I had to come
out to the freeway and nervously exchange money for food in the middle of the
road. The strangest sight I ever saw was an abandoned toilet bowl in the middle
of the highway. A metaphor for something.
What went wrong in Detroit, which has filed for bankruptcy? This piece by Kevin D Williamson pretty much
nails it. The figures he gives are astonishing: in 1960 it had the highest
per capita income in the US. Today it is the poorest city by far. Crime is
rampant and services are poor; corruption is ubiquitous. Anyone with any money
has left. The city’s population has fallen by two thirds. It’s a ghost town with
a few poor souls still trapped there.

As long-time VDARE.COM readers know, I resided for a decade and a half in
Mexico. A few years ago, I moved
back to the United States. Since my wife is
from Mexico, we go back at Christmas and in the summer. Of course, I can
follow Mexico
on the internet, but these visits allow me to get a real feel for the
country.
The violence in
Mexico? It’s certainly
a consideration for us. Coincidentally, it was getting worse about the time
we moved to the U.S. Now, when we visit, we’re more careful than we used to be.
We take toll
roads and try not to drive at night. On this trip, there was violence in the
metropolitan area where we used to live and now visit, but we did not personally
encounter it.
But that’s what Mexican violence is like. It’s not like some imagine, with
the whole country a free
fire zone 24/7. It’s just that, in certain
regions of the country, violence might erupt and you could be
in the crossfire. The odds are quite low, but woe unto those to whom it
happens.Nevertheless, life goes on in Mexico. People live their lives and go about their daily business.
My family and I had a good summer visit. We spent time with my wife’s family, we saw old friends and neighbors.

Are you accepting other Christians or are you making
decisions that are not so very Christian? Are you the member of a denomination
that extends God’s loving mercies to everyone who says, “I am a Christian, “and
seeks to pray with you?
To be really truthful you will have to admit that most
evangelical denominations do not extend God’s tender, loving mercies to each
other or to any groups that have split off from them. I have witnessed Southern
Baptist Pastors, Catholic Priests, and Pentecostal Pastors that refuse to
accept each others as Christian groups and sadly will not speak with an open
mind about their differences.
It is not abnormal to say that a vast number of white church
groups do not extend God’s love to black church groups and visa versa. Often
Spanish, Puerto Rican and other ethnic groups are not seen as worthy of God’s love from either white or black church
groups nor do they, themselves, extend God’s love to churches outside of their
own ethnic groups.
A white man walks into a black church and immediately feels
that he is an interloper. I black man walks into a white church and is shunned.
Each hears, whether spoken or just felt as if, ‘This is not your place. You are
not welcome here.’ This is not only in the south, it happens everywhere.

Cruz Says Obama is Coming For Our Guns
Ted Cruz criticized Obama for his “Trayvon” speech, calling it trampling on constitutional rights. Cruz claims that Obama is using the “Stand Your Ground” laws to go after guns.I really like Ted Cruz a lot, and Obama may very well make another stab at grabbing guns using Martin’s death as justification, but I think he’s missing the bigger picture. Over the last two days major new discoveries in the IRS and Benghazi scandals. We found out the boss holding back Tea Party applications was a political appointment of Obama’s and that he knew about the targeting no later than Aug 4th, 2011, and likely much earlier. It’s very suspicious that he would not tell his boss and benefactor that there was an investigation.
In the Benghazi investigation, we made two huge discoveries. First we have been told by Rep. Frank Wolf, that survivors of Benghazi were forced to sign non disclosure agreements and if they talk they could lose their jobs and or go to prison. The second and possibly most disturbing thing we found out was that congress was told that the Pentagon couldn’t tell them where Marine Corps Col. George Bristol was because he had retired. But guess what? According to the Marine Corps Times, Bristol is still on active duty.

Following is the story of an Israeli rabbi coming to the Lord. His Israeli accent makes him rather difficult to understand, so a radio interview was not realistic. He was happy to share his story with us, however, and we interviewed him over the telephone. We've tried to leave in much of his own expressions in order to preserve the colorful way he speaks. So you'll be 'hearing' his accent as you read. Enjoy the story of Rabbi Joseph.
I was born in Morroco, and came to Israel at 9 years old. As a man I went to Yeshiva (seminary and place of rabbinic study) and became a rabbi. On the Day of Atonement in 1973, a war started at 2:00 pm in Israel. All the Jews were in synagogues. I was the rabbi of a synagogue as well as being in the army for many years. I was called up and had to go. I was sent to the Golan, in a tank, the Captain of a four man crew in the tank. It was very difficult. The Syrians had mines planted everywhere. It was hard to advance. Lots of explosions and people getting killed. Altogether I went through four wars, seeing many terrible things in the army.
