End the ObamaCare $lush Fund

It looks like our campaign to defund ObamaCare is causing some people in Congress to finally get serious.
This week, the House of Representatives is going to take up adefunding bill that the Senate and the President can’t ignore. It’s called theHelp Sick Americans Now Act, and it strikes at one of the fundamental disconnects in the Democrats’ healthcare agenda.
The bill would strip out $4 billion from an ObamaCare slush fund supporting “prevention” and apply most of it to a program that serves the sickest Americans who can’t get help elsewhere – the Pre-Existing Condition Plan (or PCIP). There are about 100,000 people currently enrolled in the PCIP, but Obama shuttered it to new applicants citing “funding constraints.”
So what effort of that slush fund is so important that Obama wouldn’t dare touch it to help the critically ill? Instead of putting money to directly treat sick people, through the ObamaCare “prevention” slush fund:
A North Carolina County used the money to put up signs advertising their outdoors recreation.
New York got $3 million dollars to lobby for taxes on soda products.
Seattle spent $3 million dollars to improve the “walking and biking environment.”
Boston dropped $1 million dollars on gardening projects.
Nashville got $7.5 million dollars – part of which went to paying staff to promote neutering or spaying pets.
And that’s just a drop in the bucket. In addition to these specific line items,hundreds of millions of dollars have gone to not just standard-order liberal ideas like promoting higher taxes on fast foods or cigarettes through messaging, but also bizarre advertising campaigns and de-facto local lobbying efforts with your tax dollars – which, by the way, is supposed to be strictly illegal.
This is what liberals think is more important than actually providing healthcare. All they really want to do is force-feed the American people their dictates on how to live, and their vision of what our country should look like.
Is it illegal to push that with tax dollars? Who cares! Is there any scientific proof to back up their efforts? Nope, but they know better!
It’s the exact same mentality that makes ObamaCare as a whole so abhorrent. It’s what has led to the myriad broken promises in the bill.
Obama and his cronies claimed you can keep your healthcare, they claimed it would improve access to sevice, they claimed it would lower costs – but none of those have turned out to be true. And you know why? Because they don’t care about any of that, really. They just care about forcing you to do things in their lowest-common-denominator way.
That’s why the Help Sick Americans Now Act is such an excellent initiative. It takes the foremost lie – that Obama and Harry Reid are really just trying to help the needy – and turns it around on them. With this bill, it is the Republicans stripping out their wasteful, liberal engineering slush fund and actually putting it directly towards the sick. Which, if we’re going to be spending federal dollars on healthcare, it should be.

I think it goes without saying, but expect the debate this week to get particularly ugly. The Democrats are going to be red in the face, and they are going to throw everything and the kitchen sink at House Republicans for pointing out their failure.
They’re going to say that this is a gimmick.
They’re going to call this political gamesmanship, or a “distraction.”
They’re going to say that Republicans don’t care about preventative healthcare.
They’re going to somehow claim that this somehow hurts the poor, or minorities.
They’re going to claim that without this slush fund, little kids aren’t going to be able to go to the doctor’s office anymore.
And we must be prepared to take to our networks and counter each and every one of these ridiculous political statements. This can be a major win for us, and defunding ObamaCare, and we can’t afford to miss the opportunity. We must show the American people exactly where the left’s priorities are. If we can do that, we’ve opened the door to finally taking up the entire bill again.
It’s time to stop allowing Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and their media allies to distort the truth and walk all over our freedoms.
