President Barack Obama will not release his college records, his records from law school, his records as an Illinois attorney and many other records. In fact, he is even defying Congress in refusing to release records about the people's business, using executive privilege to keep memos secret in the Fast & Furious scandal.
But his position on other people's records is far different. Just a few days ago, he said that anyone running for president should have their life as an open book. If the drive-by media weren't in the tank for Obama, that stupid comment should have raised red flags. Unfortunately, it didn't.
Barack Obama loves spending other people's money and loves seeing other people's records released.
In 2004, Obama won, thanks to the other-people's-record strategy. His opponent was Jack Ryan, who was a formidable candidate. Ryan was a former Goldman Sachs partner whose net worth was estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Ryan had an MBA from Harvard as well as a law degree from Harvard. He had quit investment banking to teach in the inner city.
At one point in time he had been married to actress Jeri Ryan, who is best known for staring in the TV show Star Trek: Voyager.
As Jack Ryan became the likely Republican nominee, the Chicago Tribune that at one time employed David Axelrod, Obama's campaign manager, decided to sue to obtain the divorce records from when Jack and Jeri Ryan divorced in California. The two had a child and they decided that it would be in the best interests of the child that their divorce records be sealed.
That was not good enough for the left-wing media, which sued to get those records. Both Jack and Jeri Ryan went to court demanding those records remain sealed. A left wing judge decided that despite the wishes of the parties, those records would be unsealed and made public.
Everyone who has ever been through a contested divorce will tell you the first casualty in a divorce can be the truth. Both parties throw allegations around that they hope will help their case.
Jeri Ryan had claimed that Jack Ryan had wanted to take her to sex clubs and have sex in public. Those allegations doomed Ryan's bid for the Senate. Obama won and the rest is history.
The media, which was so fascinated with records of a private divorce between two people who wanted to keep in private, has shown no interest in investigating the allegations about Obama's eligibility.
They would rather simply mock the so-called “birthers.” In fairness to Obama, the president has released what he says is his official birth certificate. But some like Sheriff Joe Arpaio have cited evidence that it is a fake. Few in the media have given that question real scrutiny.
The problem America has today is that we no longer have a real, independent media. We have a media that is little more than a propaganda arm for one political party.
That is not good for America nor does it bode well for the prospects of saving liberty and freedom in this nation.
Today's press is more interested in an agenda than the truth. The independent press is now a relic. It is like old black and white photos we look at in a museum.
It is totally in the past.
