Excerpt: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he suspects Iran was behind a deadly explosion aboard a bus full of Israeli tourists in Bulgaria today.
Suicide Attacker With Fake U.S. ID Blamed in Bus Bomb
Excerpt: Speaking to reporters at the airport at this Black Sea resort on Thursday morning, Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov said the bomber was carrying a fake Michigan driver’s license at the time of the blast. One of the Israeli victims died overnight, along with the 36-year-old Bulgarian bus driver. 9So, foreign terrorists can get US IDs, but, according to Obama and Holder, US Citizens who are minorities can’t get them to vote legally. But they can get them to buy booze, cigarettes and guns, cash welfare checks, get on planes and attend Obama rallies.
Why Iran’s targeting Israelis abroad By Michael Widlanski
Excerpt: Yesterday's terror attack on an Israeli tour bus in Bulgaria could lead to war. (Problem is, Israel cannot prove Iran was behind it, so the media and Progressives will attack them if they respond. And the US will not be able to prove that the A-bomb that destroys NYC or Washington, DC came from Iran. ~Bob.)
Swedish Suicide Bomber Who Carried Out Bulgaria Attack On Israeli Tourists Was Freed From Gitmo After Heavy Pressure From Sweden’s Liberal Government, Treated Like a “Rock Star” Upon His Return
Excerpt: Even after he was released (and featured in a documentary on U.S. human rights abuses), Ghezali was again arrested in 2009 trying to cross into Pakistan with a suicide vest and $50,000. (Tell the families of the dead kids how terrible it was to keep these bastards at Gitmo. ~Bob.)
The Swedish Michigan Connection. By Baron Bodissey
Excerpt: The suicide bomber who blew up the Israeli bus in Bulgaria yesterday turns out to have been a “Swede” who had graduated from Gitmo, according to the Bulgarian media. Note also the Michigan connection for the fake passport and driver’s license. Would anyone be surprised if that fake license originated in the Dearborn branch of the Michigan DMV?
Bulgarian Massacre: Islamists Do Better Than Nazis. By Giulio Meotti
Excerpt: The salvation of the Bulgarian Jews [during World War II] was due to the refusal of Christian and Muslim Bulgarians to acquiesce in the killing of their Jewish brethren. It also raises the question of how many other Jews died because their fellow citizens stood silent.
Excerpt: Russia and China on Thursday vetoed a U.S.-backed U.N. Security Council resolution threatening the Syrian government with sanctions, upending four months of diplomacy aimed at stemming a crisis that has left more than 14,000 dead. The vote came a day after anti-government rebels bombed a meeting of top Syrian security officials, killing three key aides to President Bashar al-Assad, and as government shelling of neighborhoods in Damascus continued.
Blowing Up History. By Victor Davis Hanson
Excerpt: In the Arabic media, there are reports that Muslim clerics -- energized by the sudden emergence of Egypt's new president, Muhammad Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood -- are now agitating to demolish the Egyptian pyramids. According to agitated imams, the Pharaohs' monuments represent "symbols of paganism" from Egypt's pre-Islamic past and therefore must vanish.
Democrat Senator: There Should Be Limits To The First Amendmenthttp://freedomoutpost.com/2012/07/democrat-senator-there-should-be-limits-to-the-first-amendment/
Excerpt: Well the Democrats tried a second time in less than 24 hours to push through the DISCLOSE Act which would force unions, nonprofits and corporate interest groups that spend $10,000 or more during an election cycle to disclose donors who give more than $10,000. They failed, even after 16 senators held the floor for six hours on Monday evening. The vote was on party lines 53-45, falling short of the 60 votes needed to break the Republican filibuster.

Possible Fraud Involving 24,000 Minnesota Driver’s Licenses
Excerpt: The state of Minnesota has found nearly 24,000 possible cases of fraud involving driver’s licenses issued in the state, Fox Minneapolis reports. A facial recognition scan of the state’s 11 million photo database found nearly 1.3 million duplicates. (And Democrats says it's hard to get an ID... ~Bob.)
Democrats’ Ideal Voter: Illegal Alien, Single Mother, Convicted Felon. By Ann Coulter
Excerpt: While conservatives have been formulating carefully constructed arguments, liberals have been playing a long-term game to change the demographics of America to get an electorate more to their liking. They will do incalculable damage to the nation and to individual citizens, but Democrats will have an unbeatable majority. Just like California, the United States is on its way to becoming a Third World, one-party state.
New Black Panther ‘Spiritual Leader’ Gets Out of Jail — Goes on Shouting Shock Rant Vowing Zimmerman ‘Gotta Pay’
Excerpt: In a recent interview on Black Panther radio, New Black Panther Chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz had a very ‘spiritual’ discussion with Minister Hashim Nzinga, the appointed Spiritual Leader of the Panthers. Min. Nzinga, 49, was just released from the DeKalb County Jail in Atlanta last week after serving 150 days for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Nzinga is most notorious for his posting a $10,000 bounty for the the capture of George Zimmerman, the man who killed Trayvon Martin. (Holder's "People." ~Bob.)
Awlaki family files suit against US government over drone strikes
Excerpt: Relatives of three U.S. citizens killed in drone strikes in Yemen last year, including radical Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, are suing the U.S. government for targeting the terrorism suspects "without due process." The wrongful death lawsuit, filed Wednesday, claims that the killings of U.S. citizens al-Awlaki, his 16-year-old son Abdulrahman al-Awlaki and operative Samir Khan were unconstitutional. Khan was the publisher of the terror magazine Inspire.
Americans on no-fly list over terror concerns still allowed to enroll in flight school
Excerpt: U.S. citizens who are on the government's list of people banned from flying because they're considered terror threats are not prevented from learning how to fly in schools around the country, according to government regulation. Such a person may have to drive across the country to learn how to fly a plane because he or she would likely be stopped from boarding a commercial airliner. But the security checks put in place after the 9/11 attacks will not keep the person from receiving pilot training.
Excerpt: This crowd we are up against has rewritten the book on governance, on politics, on convention, all in the name of rewriting the book on America. Romney can show he understands what he is up against by ignoring the debating society on the right. ….He should release his tax returns after Obama releases his academic records and Holder releases Fast and Furious documents to Chairman Issa — and plainly say so.
Eurozone rescue without growth means Finland could be first to leave
Excerpt: The essence of the eurozone's financial problem lies in the discrepancy between northern and southern members. So why don't they just integrate their finances? Because that would mean the northern countries taking their share of the debts incurred by the southerners. Understandably, people in the north don't like this idea. They haven't enjoyed the benefits of government largesse – why should they now suffer the pain of higher taxes or interest costs to pay for it? (Silly people in the north--that's what Socialism does. Spreads the largess from the makers to the takers. ~Bob.)
Assad, Syria, and the future
Comment: Assad’s wife is English, but Assad can’t go to England. I think that both he and his wife have very few remaining days on this earth. He painted himself into this corner and he is now screwed. With the killings in his inner sanctum, all of the other military brass know he is on borrowed time and they have to think about their options. If I were Assad, I would trust no one. The chemical weapons are a BIG problem. --TC

Obama Admin: Journaling, Motivational Reading Count as Work for Welfare. By Ben Shapiro
Excerpt: In 1996, Republicans forced through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) bill, also known as welfare reform. It incentivized states to create welfare-to-work programs, trying to transition Americans from government dependency to financial solvency. But states quickly acted to poke holes in that legislation, calling the following activities “work” for purposes of the statute: bed rest, personal care activities, massage, exercise, journaling, motivational reading, smoking cessation, weight loss promotion, participation in parent-teacher meetings, or helping friends or family with household tasks and errands…
Mortgage rules won’t lower prices
Excerpt: Moreover, there is legitimate concern that household debt has reached new heights at 152 per cent of discretionary income. The Bank of Canada considers it a principal risk to the country’s financial stability. In response, Ottawa has announced tightened lending rules, reducing maximum loan terms from 30 years to 25 years and maximum loan amounts from 85 to 80 per cent of house values for mortgages insured by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). This is the third tightening of mortgage rules in the past four years, but they will likely have no effect on rising prices. (Huh. Canadian paper thinking government messing in the economy doesn’t work. Imagine that. ~Bob.)
Worth Reading: The Healthcare Myths We Must Confront. By Cliff Asness
Excerpt: As debate about whether ObamaCare is a good idea continues, rejecting four major misconceptions about healthcare is crucial to any chance of our eventually emerging with a better system. … That’s done, but the debate on whether ObamaCare’s provisions are good ideas will continue. To date, this debate has been unable to shake off a lot of mythology—things believed about healthcare and our healthcare system in general, or ObamaCare specifically—that simply are not so.
Solar Getting Burned Again. By Ken Silverstein
Excerpt: It was to be the country’s biggest solar equipment maker. Instead, it will be exhibited by critics of President Obama’s green energy plan. In the spotlight now is General Electric, which has said that it will delay by at least 18 months the construction of a facility to build solar panels.
Report: CIA Drones Killed Over 2,000, Mostly Civilians in Pakistan Since 2006: Three Quarters of Deaths in Two Years Since President Obama Took Office. By Jason Ditz
Excerpt: A new report from the Conflict Monitoring Centre (CMC) has reported that 2,043 Pakistanis have been slain in CIA drone strikes in the past 5 years, with the vast majority of them innocent civilians.. .And while 2,043 is a lot of people to kill in the past five years, over 75% of them were actually killed in the past two years since President Obama took office. 2009 saw over 700 people killed in the CIA drone strikes, and the report shows 929 more killed in 2010….This has led CMC to term the program an “assassination campaign turning out to be a revenge campaign.”
U.N. Rights Body Defies U.S. with “Right to Peace” Resolution Giving Legitimacy to Terror
Excerpt: The U.N.’s top human rights body defied the U.S. today by adopting a Cuban-led “right to peace” resolution that endorses resistance against “foreign occupation,” for the first time granting U.N. Human Rights Council legitimization of the terminology used by Middle East extremists to justify terrorist attacks against Americans and Israelis. Initiated by Cuba, the resolution’s co-sponsors included Syria, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Belarus, China, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Venezuela, Bolivia and Nicaragua. The Geneva-based human rights group UN Watch expressed serious concerns over the text.
Worth Reading: Let's Be Honest About Outsourcing
Excerpt: Both candidates in the presidential race have been accusing the other of "outsourcing." It's one of those words that is loaded with negative meaning, implying that the perpetrator is un-American. But does America have an outsourcing problem? What is popularly referred to as "outsourcing" is the practice of offshoring business functions, including building facilities and employing workers in other countries. Liberals often argue that "sending jobs overseas" is harming America's economy. They are missing two important truths: The reality of jobs in America, and the ways to bring even more jobs to the home front.
The left’s lost donors
Excerpt: Democrats have spent months praying for the liberal answer to Sheldon Adelson and the Koch brothers. For the super PAC supporting President Barack Obama, there are plenty of potential recruits who can write multimillion-dollar checks — just few who have stepped forward.
Young Obama, Wall Street Outsourcing Specialist. By Charles C. Johnson
Excerpt: “….In fact, he worked for one of “the first research firms designed to provide information services for multinational firms,” wrote David Remnick in his sympathetic biography, The Bridge (p. 118). “Obama was a researcher and writer for a reference service called Financing Foreign Operations,” Janny Scott for the New York Times reported in 2007. …..It was, in other words, a report for corporations on how to invest and expand abroad--which is exactly what outsourcing is.”
When the UN wants to negotiate a global arms control deal, it turns to ... Iran
Excerpt: A little more than a week after accusing Iran of supplying arms for Syria's bloody crackdown on democracy-minded rebels, the UN has given Tehran a key seat at negotiations for a global arms treaty. The stunning appointment by member states attending the UN Conference of the Arms Trade Treaty in New York came last week, and is just the latest example of the world body appointing rogue and repressive regimes to leadership roles. The 15-nation committee to which Iran was appointed hopes to guide what could eventually become the first legally binding global treaty aimed at regulating the international trade of conventional arms.
Statement by the father of Lance Cpl. Hunter “H.D.” Hogan
Excerpt: We as family and friends of Lance Cpl. Hogan and other service members, want to know why the media in our country has coddled instead of covered this Teflon coated administration! We listened every night on the news for 8 years with the previous administration the casualty reports. With the present administration nothing is reported! With the news of our recent loss of H.D. and others in his battalion, many people have made statements like “I didn’t think anything was going on there anymore.” “I thought the Marines were leaving there.” Etc. etc.(Now that I think about it, Mr. Hogan is right. Every night for eight years every major network's newscast would contain numbers of how many of our warriors had been killed or injured. Not so much any more. MasterGuns)

We don't need separation of church and state in this country, we need a separation of government and economy. John Hawkins
Muslim Cleric Shot Dead in Russia's Tatarstan
Excerpt: A top Muslim cleric in Russia's Tatarstan province was shot dead Thursday and another was wounded by a car bomb, attacks that the province's leader and local religious authorities said were probably related to the priests' criticism of radical Islamists. (More Muslims dead in Allahmurders at the hands of fellow Muslims who didn’t get the “Islam is a Religion of Peace” memo. How come so many US Progressives have read the memo and so few Muslims? ~Bob.)
Black mobs' Knockout Game raising alarms: Death, brain injury reported after cases of attackers coldcocking passersby. By Colin Flaherty
Excerpt: Ready to play the Knockout Game? The St. Louis version is the most popular, so let’s start there: Begin with a bunch of black people. Anywhere from five to 50. Find a white person, but an Asian will do. Alone is important. Older is better. Weak and defenseless even more so. (Do you think any of the thugs look like they could have been Obama’s son? ~Bob.)
BS/NYT poll: Obama, Romney in dead heat in presidential race
Excerpt: Forty-seven percent of registered voters nationwide who lean towards a candidate back Romney, while 46 percent support the president. … Fifty-four percent of registered voters cite the economy and jobs as "extremely" important in their presidential vote, more than any other issue. Here Romney has the edge: 49 percent of registered voters say he would do a better job handling the economy and jobs, while 41 percent cite Mr. Obama.
Quick! Look over there! Ann Romney spends her own money on therapy horses and clothing. Shocking. ~Bob.
Most members of Congress keep their tax returns secret. By Kevin G. Hall and David Lightman
Excerpt: (Pelosi and Reid) do not, however, think that standard of transparency should apply to them. The two Democratic leaders of the Senate and the House of Representatives are among hundreds of senators and representatives from both parties who refused to release their tax records. (According to the article, congressmen only have to disclose the minimal amount of information required by law, a law they themselves enacted. However as authors of all our laws, should they not be required to disclose sources of all their income in detail? After all we have a right to know about conflicts of interest and influence peddling. Let us assume that since the IRS is very aggressive in prosecuting tax evaders, and since leading members of Congress are not under indictment, they have done nothing illegal. Can those who are so intent on Mitt Romney disclosing many back years of his tax returns concede that under the same logic and principle, since Mr. Romney is not under indictment, he is as innocent as they and has acted as properly as they have? If any elected official, or for that matter, any citizen, business or legal alien, has taken advantage of any loophole provided by Congress, it is legal and permissible, even if we don't like it. And if the public does not like such loopholes, the public can and should pressure Congress to close them. If they are open, every tax filer has every right to take advantage of them. Perhaps Romney should have to disclose returns from the years in which he was governor of Massachusetts, since after all, there was the potential for conflict of interest. By that standard, Obama and all members of Congress should be made to disclose all of their tax returns while they were elected officials and while they were candidates. (And by the way, if Romney, Bush, McCain, et al. were made to disclose their academic records, shouldn't that apply to Obama?) Wealth is not a constitutional requirement or disqualification for elective office. As long as income earnings and wealth have been acquired legally, a person's income or net worth should not be criteria for deciding fitness for office. Remember, among other presidencies, Washington (then arguably the nation's richest man), Jefferson, Wm. Harrison, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, JFK and Lyndon Johnson were famously wealthy. Others, such as Jackson, Lincoln, Garfield, Truman, Carter and Clinton rose to the presidency from impecunious circumstances. Perhaps the quality of a resume, a candidate's public record and statements about his political philosophy or her proposed programs, and his or her moral behavior should govern how we vote. Cordially, Larry Greenberg.)
62% Put Economic Growth Ahead of Economic Fairness
Excerpt: Voters view economic growth as much more important than economic fairness and think Mitt Romney favors growth while President Obama is more focused on fairness. (Growth can be defined in numbers. “Fairness,” like beauty and porn, is in the eye of the beholder. Thus, easy to demagogue to economically-ignorant voters. ~Bob.)
Worth Reading: 7 Habits of Highly Ineffective Government. By Cal Thomas
Excerpt: Stephen Covey, the management guru who died this week, would have had a hard time selling his books in Benjamin Franklin's America, or Abe Lincoln's. His best seller "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" would have been considered a self-evident truth, one drummed into earlier Americans by schools, churches and the Puritan ethic. Today, Covey's thoughts about how to become a success by applying principles with a proven track record seem innovative and cutting edge. His work is a rebuke to the notion that government can do it all for you.
Poverty is a Self-Inflicted Disease. By Gary DeMar
Excerpt: Of course, once these companies become successful, politicians will tax the daylights out of them. It’s these taxing policies that end up killing the goose that lays the golden egg.
How Black Leaders Exploit Their People for Political and Financial Gain. By Gary DeMar
Excerpt: While the killing of Trayvon Martin was a tragedy, there are daily tragedies in black neighborhoods. For example, the unemployment rate for black males is at 18% while black youth unemployment was at 46.5% in late 2011. Who’s to blame? Whites? The rich? Are whites and the rich to blame for dramatic school drop-out rates? Are whites to blame for the way many black young people dress when they show up for job interviews?
Mitt Romney, his tax returns, and shiny objects. By Chris Cillizza
Excerpt: Romney’s general election campaign, from day one, has taken the long view. When the waters get choppy, his response is almost uniformly to not panic, hope to ride it out, and stay focused on the long-term campaign (and more specifically, the economy). In other words: to avoid the shiny objects. But is that a successful strategy in the era of not just 24-hour news, but 24-hour political news? (Good quality in a President, though, if he gets to be President. ~Bob.)
Anti-Semitism Sweeping France. By Peter Martino
Excerpt: The Council of Jewish Institutions in France (CRIF) keeps track of anti-Semitic incidents. In the last decade, the number rose well above 300 incidents per year. In 2010, there were 466 incidents. In 2011, there were 389. However, 2012 will break the record. During the first five months of 2012, already 268 incidents of hatred against Jews have been reported. In certain neighborhoods of Paris, Marseille or Lyons it is no longer safe for Jews to walk the streets. (What are you seeing in France and elsewhere in Europe? Will Europe be judenrein in a generation? Will Christians be dhimmis in two generations? Cordially, Larry Greenberg. Don’t bother me with real violence, Larry. I’m too busy joining my Progressive friends in fretting about the mythical “backlash against Muslims” following every outbreak of Allahmurder. It never seems to happen, of course, but it must be a problem because it’s the first thing the Media talks about. ~Bob.)
General Motors is Becoming China Motors
Buy American? Or is this part of the plan. ~Bob
New Polls Show Bain Attack Hurt… Obama. By John Nolte
Excerpt: When you consider the state of our failing and slowing recovery and the cold hard fact that tens of millions of American are either out of work or have stopped looking for work, Obama's poll numbers are defying gravity. There's no way he should be tied with Mitt Romney. So what's keeping Obama afloat?
The GOP's Big Tent: Opposition to Obamacare Unites Republicans, John McCormack
Excerpt: It’s no surprise that Democrats would want to move on from an issue that caused 63 of their House seats and 7 of their Senate seats to flip to the Republicans in 2010. The last time Republicans took control of the House of Representatives from Democrats was 1994, the year when, after 40 straight years of control of the House, Democrats unsuccessfully tried to pass a national health care bill. You may detect a pattern.
Foreclosure Crisis Hits Older Americans Hard
Excerpt: Older African-Americans and Hispanics are the hardest hit. "The Great Recession has been brutal for many older Americans," said Debra Whitman, AARP's policy chief. "This shows that home ownership doesn't guarantee financial security later in life."
The Real Reagan. By Fred Barnes
Excerpt: When I interviewed President Reagan in the Oval Office in 1987, I took with me a photograph of him with two dozen women at the Presidio of Monterey in California 50 years earlier. My mother, the presidio commander’s daughter, was one of the women. I wanted Reagan to autograph the photograph, and he graciously obliged, but not before telling me in extraordinary detail how he happened to be at the presidio, a cavalry post, and everything about the movie he was making there.
UK: Muslim Couple Guilty of Anti-Jewish Bomb Plot
Excerpt: Not just in Bulgaria: jihadis are targeting Jews, the worst enemies of the Muslims according to the Qur'an (5:82), all over the world. But remember: the real problem is "Islamophobia." (Gee, I hope this doesn’t produce an Islamophobic backlash… ~Bob.)
FBI Figures Out That Political Correctness Allowed Fort Hood To Happen
Excerpt: It has been said that political correctness is a far greater threat to freedom than Islamic terrorism. Put them together and you get bloodbaths like Fort Hood — as even our politically correct Islamophilic government has finally figured out: (Islamo-obsequious. ~Bob.)
Rising Corn Prices and Your Grocery Bill. By Jack Hough
Excerpt: “A 50% increase in the price of corn tends to raise total shopping bills by about 1%,” says Ricky Volpe, a research economist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Corn’s price has jumped 45% this summer. Of course, even a modest increase to shopping bills is unwelcome news for households on tight budgets.
USDA partnering with Mexico to increase Food Stamp participation. By Caroline May
Excerpt: The Mexican government has been working with the United States Department of Agriculture to increase participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or food stamps. USDA has an agreement with Mexico to promote American food assistance programs, including food stamps, among Mexican Americans, Mexican nationals and migrant communities in America. (Hmm, wonder how much per Hispanic vote this is costing us. –Rod. Save our government time if we had the Mexican government issue them US Food Stamp Credit Cards before they left for the border. ~Bob.)
Why are all superheroes orphans? By Janet Daley
Excerpt: Finding themselves displaced persons in a new world (literally in Superman's case) they must re-invent themselves: become omnipotent personae who can protect themselves from the terrors of the unknown. They are all - with their assumed identities – Gatsby figures who are not what they seem. They have come from nowhere and must seek acceptance by using their preternatural gifts in the service of the land which has adopted them.
Worth Reading: Arming Ourselves Against Barbarians. By Clifford D. May
Excerpt: A generation before the attacks of 9/11, in 1980, in a book titled The Recovery of Freedom, the great historian Paul Johnson lamented that we have “almost forgotten how to arm ourselves against barbarism. We can, in fact, do it in only one way: by stating that terrorism is always and in every circumstance wrong . . . that it must be resisted by every means at our disposal; and that those who practice it must not only be punished but repudiated by those who share their political aims.

Excerpt: The $15,000 campaign is a response to pro-Palestine ads. It will cover 75 station kiosks throughout the Metro North route for a four-week period. “We wanted to bring some reality — because truth is a recognition of reality — we wanted to bring some truth to Metro North,” said AFDI executive director Pamela Geller.

You Didn't Sweat, He Did - Constructing a Sentence is Hard When You're The World's Greatest Orator. By James Taranto
Excerpt: If the World's Greatest Orator turns out to be a one-term president, ['If you've got a business, you didn't build that.'] is likely to go down as the most memorable utterance of his career. Mitt Romney certainly hopes that happens. HotAir.com's Ed Morrissey has highlights of Mitt Romney's response, in a speech yesterday at Irwin, Pa.:
'The Conservatives': Movie Response to Liberal Class Warfare
Excerpt: Today, Meyer released YAF’s movie trailer for the film, “The Conservatives”, which is designed to respond to Obama’s class warfare. Featuring strong Conservative leaders like Mark Levin, Michelle Malkin, Jonah Goldberg, Monica Crowley, Walter Williams, Stephen Moore, and Peter Schweizer, the trailer begins by addressing the liberal ideology preached in American schools. “Everything I was hearing [in college] was wrong,” Levin, author and radio show host says in the trailer.
How I Became An Irish Zionist. By Nicky Larkin
Excerpt: I expected hate mail. And I got it. But I didn’t expect the support from a largely silent group of people — Irish people. It seems there are true liberals out there. People prepared to listen to both sides of the story.
What's the matter with California? (High-Speed Rail Edition). B. Daniel Blatt, Gay Patriot
Excerpt: Drive through some streets in Hollywood and you’ll wonder when was the last time they repaired the potholes. Some of our freeways need resurfacing. And the governor just signed an “$8 billion bill to kick off high-speed rail construction“:
Wahhabist Terror Strikes Tatarstan. Musings of Durotrigan Blog
Excerpt: Today, unknown assailants have attacked two outspoken critics of Wahhabi/Salafist Islam in Kazan, capital of the Russian republic of Tatarstan. Valiulla Yakupov, Tatarstan’s Deputy Mufti, was shot and killed as he left his home, whilst elsewhere in the city the Chief Mufti himself - Ildus Fayzov – was seriously injured as a car bomb tore his vehicle apart. Although nobody has yet claimed responsibility for these attacks, it is a near certainty that they were perpetrated by Salafists. It seems symbolic that the attacks took place upon the eve of Ramadan, as if emphasising that the attackers regarded them as false Muslims.
The Indiana Jones of Coffee: Companies Go Deep Into Africa In Search Of Perfect Bean. By Miguel Bustillo and Solomon Moore
Excerpt: Companies are turning to exploration to ensure future coffee supplies because production has leveled off even as demand has increased, causing coffee-bean prices to quadruple since 2001. The world consumed 17.6 billion pounds of coffee beans last year, up from 2.6 billion in 1982, according to the U.S. Agriculture Department. But production in Colombia, which provides 10% of the world's Arabica beans, has dropped 36% since 2005. (Of course in Africa, you have to deal with diamond thieves, and Islamist or Marxists revolutionaries. ~Bob.)
