Once a 'D' president came in, no protests (letter)

Four years ago the newspapers, magazines and news shows kept up a daily drip, drip, drip against the war on terror. Daily we read articles about the latest casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan. We were reminded constantly about the evil Guantanamo.
Where are all the so-called peace activists who were constantly in the streets demonstrating against the evil Bush-Cheney and "their" wars, seemingly forgetting that we were attacked on Sept. 11, 2001? Code Pink was seen everywhere there was a television camera or an open mike for them to scream into, even the floor of the House.
I’m guessing that once the commander in chief had a D after his name instead of an R, then the wars were no longer bad and Gitmo was the ideal solution for keeping terrorists off the streets. How else do you justify spending close to a million dollars of taxpayer money to build a soccer field for the captives?
The death toll of the men and women of our military killed in Afghanistan has surpassed that of those killed in Iraq, and not one word of that "milestone" was heard last week. Under the previous administration, not a week went by that we weren’t told of the number killed on any given day.
It’s too bad that the only noise coming from the media and the anti-war crowd these days is the sound of crickets.
