ANYONE MISSING A CELL PHONE?
We were just informed this morning that the folks at Toys-for-Tots found a “KRYPONITE” padlocked cell phone in the box of toys we delivered, which were collected at this month’s First Friday Happy Hour/Christmas Party at Mundo’s restaurant. If you lost such a phone, shoot me an email.
THE ELIZABETH HALSETH STORY
Silver State Confidential subscribers have already read the 8-part story that “Nevada GOP Leaders Didn’t Want You to Know & the Mainstream Press Wouldn’t Tell” about the scandal involving conservative Nevada state Sen. Elizabeth Halseth. Well, in case you missed it, I’ve compiled all eight reports into one document, which you can now download for free simply byclicking here
DISCLOSURE
Contrary to the opinions/surmises/guesses/suggestions/assumptions of some – including a certain liberal “journalist” - I am NOT on retainer as a consultant to ANY candidates running in Nevada, or planning to run in Nevada, at this time. If/when that ever changes, I’ll be sure to let y’all know as appropriate. Capice?
RETURN OF A MAN CALLED REAGAN
Reagan conservatism appears to be on the rise nationally once again. Get this from Aaron Blake and Chris Cilizza of The Fix this morning:
With Wall Street’s foibles in the latter part of last decade starting to fade a bit from memory, Americans are increasingly likely to attribute the country’s problems to big government rather than big business, according to a new Gallup poll.
The poll shows 64 percent of Americans say “big government” is the biggest threat to the country, while just 26 percent say it’s “big business” and 8 percent say it’s “big labor.” That figure for big business is about as low as it was before the economy collapsed in 2008, and those who say big government is the biggest threat is near a historic high.
And some still say Gingrich can’t beat Obama?

CHRIS MATTHEWS COMES UNGLUED
While Barack Obama send s tingle up MSNBC host Chris Matthews’ leg, the prospect ofNewt Gingrich winning the White House sends a shiver down his spine. As such, the liberal bloviator came absolutely unglued on his show Monday. Catch this summary, courtesy of theMedia Research Center:
Hardball's Chris Matthews on Monday spewed hatred for Newt Gingrich, excoriating him as voicing "deadly" contempt for Barack Obama. Matthews trashed, "He's a political killer, a gun for hire."
The unhinged Matthews compared Republicans who support the former Speaker to those who would make a deal with the devil. Using violent rhetoric, the MSNBC anchor constructed reasons why conservatives embrace Gingrich: "Because he voices in cold, nasty, deadly tones the words of their contempt, because he's an opportunist ready to seek any route to his opponent's heart and thereby kill it." [MP3 audio here.]
Using demonic references, Matthews bombarded, "[Republicans are] about to begin the nomination for President of a figure who represents the Mephistopheles of what they preach. He is nasty, brutal, ready to fight and kill politically."
Why do I suspect that when the hard left expresses their hatred in such stark terms, all they’re really doing is actually helping the target of their bile with conservative voters?

POLITICAL POTPOURRI
* Morning Score reports that “Michele Bachmann announced yesterday that she will visit all 99 counties (in Iowa) in 10 days, between Friday and Dec. 28 with three days off for Christmas.” On the other hand, other than popping in-and-out for the Las Vegas prez debate in October, Bachmann hasn’t visited even one Nevada county.
* Meanwhile, Morning Score also notes that “Paul has a 7 p.m. town hall in Petersborough, N.H. Santorum has town halls in Belle Plain and Manchester. He gives speeches in Waterloo and Marion. Romney is in New York City and Gingrich is back in D.C., but neither has public events.” No candidates are in Nevada…again. Sure glad Nevada moved its GOP caucus from third in the nation to fifth in the nation.
* “I would just say that if Gov. Romney would like to give back all the money he's earned from bankrupting companies and laying off employees over his years at Bain, that I would be glad to then listen to him,” Newt Gingrich said yesterday in response to Romney’s call for Newt to return consulting fees he received from mortgage giant Freddie Mac. “I'll bet you $10, not $10,000, that he won't take the offer.”
* National talk-show host Michael Savage offered Newt Gingrich $1 million to drop out of the presidential race yesterday, saying he’s worried that Gingrich would lose to Obama because in debates he’ll “look like nothing more than what he is: a fat, old, white man.” Sounds like a classic case of reverse discrimination.
FAMOUS LAST WORDS
"My gut tells me right now as I look at it that Gingrich might actually be the stronger candidate, because I think he can make a broader connection than Mitt Romney to those Reagan Democrats. You won't have this barrier of possible elitism that I think Obama could exploit pretty effectively.” – Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, 12/13/11
