Obama’s Economic Resuscitation Plan: Tax Hikes. Last Thursday, President Obama gave a speech before a joint session of Congress in order to promote his newest campaign ideas: spend more, tax more. Sound familiar? That’s because every single idea in this new “plan” is a rehash of the same failed policies this administration has already tried. And look where it’s gotten us. President Obama has called for Congress to “pass this bill” more than four dozen times since his 30 minute speech. Before the speech, he said everything in the “plan” would be paid for. What does that sound like? To most Americans, that sounds like the ideas included won’t cost taxpayers any money, or that our President has a plan of offset cuts in order to pay for the plan. Liberals vow to Challenge BHO in the Primaries President Obama’s smooth path to the Democratic nomination may have gotten rockier Monday, after a group of liberal leaders, including former presidential candidate Ralph Nader, announced plans to challenge the incumbent in primaries next year. Obama announces debt plan built on taxes In a blunt rejoinder to congressional Republicans, President Barack Obama called for $1.5 trillion in new taxes Monday, part of a total 10-year deficit reduction package totaling more than $3 trillion. He vowed to veto any deficit reduction package that cuts benefits to Medicare recipients but does not raise taxes on the wealthy and big corporations. “We can’t just cut our way out of this hole,” the president said.
