Liberty Counsel's calling and mission is deeply rooted in
America's religious freedom and the exercise of our First
Amendment liberties. Since we fight for every American's
right to pray and freely express his or her deeply held
beliefs and opinions, we are honored to humbly call Americans
to prayer in times of national peril.
This is such a time of peril.
In addition to the natural disaster Irene has brought and the
seemingly endless economic devastation our nation has faced
over the past several years, I ask you to also pray about the
intensifying attacks on our nation's moral foundation.
++America desperately needs to Awake!
Last night, Liberty Counsel sponsored a tremendous "Florida
Awake!" meeting at a leading church in the community of L
eesburg near the Orlando metro area. From all accounts, it
was an inspiring, energetic, and thoroughly memorable event.
What uniquely distinguished this meeting from other "Awake!"
meetings that are taking place across the country was this:
Jerry Buell, the veteran teacher at nearby Mount Dora
High School who was suspended from teaching duties because
of a single "complaint" about pro-marriage comments he
made on his personal time, on his personal computer, on
his personal Facebook account, was there to celebrate his
total exoneration and reinstatement!
Liberty Counsel Senior Litigation Attorney Harry Mihet was
there at Jerry's side during the meeting as he had been from
the beginning of his ordeal all the way to its successful
resolution.
This "Florida Awake!" meeting was a true celebration of
liberty and the triumph of one man's constitutional right
to speak out on the issues of the day. It was powerful!
++Attempts to destroy our liberty can be even more dangerous
than natural disasters and economic devastation.
Please don't misunderstand - as a Christian organization,
Liberty Counsel is always among the first to call for
compassionate relief efforts wherever there is human suffering.
But the systematic destruction of religious freedom in America
has far worse consequences than even physical or monetary
disasters!
Because you are a valued supporter
of our vital mission, I know you realize that, together,
we are fighting for the very soul of our nation!
And, as in Jerry Buell's case and countless others, we are
highly successful at defending liberty, life, and family. To
God be the glory!
++Liberty Counsel's success has brought increasing need.
I have been confronted with a great dilemma in recent months.
Liberty Counsel has experienced one of the most difficult
summers ever financially - mostly due, we believe, to the
incredible pressure the declining economy has brought to most
Americans. And yet, we are engaged in more urgent activities,
court cases, cultural clashes, and God-given new opportunities
than ever before.
Any day now, we will receive a ruling from the Fourth
Circuit Court of Appeals regarding our case to strike down the
unconstitutional mandates of ObamaCare. As you know, our case
was the first private lawsuit against ObamaCare to be filed,
tried, and to reach the appellate court level, one step short
of the United States Supreme Court.
Now, other appeals courts are handing down decisions
from other cases, and the entire legal environment on
the lawsuits against the ObamaCare law is rapidly
changing. The moment we receive a decision, our l
itigation staff is going to be plunged into a very
intense time of preparation.
For this and many other reasons, including our burgeoning
caseload in defense of people and organizations who are
facing the same sort of "politically correct" persecution
Jerry Buell did, this is not a good time for our resources
to be low.
But the fact is, we are faced with an urgent financial need.
Currently, we are tens of thousands of dollars short of our
budget projections for the summer and I need your help.
I know that families and individuals are struggling to
make ends meet. I know the economic situation and
outlook is poor. And I know that there are important
relief efforts that also need funding. But I also know
that our God is bigger than all of those circumstances!
Because you have faithfully stood with us
through other challenges, I know that you do not want Liberty
Counsel to back down from any of the battles we face.
I know you want us to fight until we get the ObamaCare healthcare
"reform" law struck from the laws of this land.
I also know you want us to be there when students' or teachers'
rights are assaulted by radical secularists and pro-homosexual
activists.
Liberty Counsel MUST be able to answer the call on these and other

The responsibility for maintaining the moral
integrity of our country is not in the hands
of a privileged few.
We must remember OUR duties as citizens and
continue to hammer home our pro-life, pro-family,
pro-freedom message!
Our nation's Christians have no choice but to stand

experiencing from radical homosexual activists,
socialist political demagogues, anti-Christian bigots,
and those who simply want to cast away all bonds of
morality and decency COMPELS us to join together!
