In his first inaugural address, President Ronald Reagan said…

“As for the enemies of freedom, those who are potential adversaries, they will be reminded that peace is the highest aspiration of the American people. We will negotiate for it, sacrifice for it; we will not surrender for it--now or ever.”

I mention that quote because in any protracted struggle, it’s natural for some people to tire of the fight and seek peace at any and all costs.  Indeed, that’s exactly how Obama lost Iraq.

Moses, Jonah, David, many prophets and Paul all tell of God’s willingness to forgive as He expresses His love for mankind.
 
Moses was most often the Lawgiver as he delivered stern admonitions about obedience to God’s law but he spoke of God’s love for His children as well.
