Police in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, are firing tear gas as at least 25,000 people have gathered in the city center, demanding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's resignation. A group of protesters attempted to storm the PM's residence.
One person died and over 400 were wounded in clashes between police and protesters outside Sharif's home and the parliament building, medical sources say.
Wasim Khawaja, a spokesman for the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences hospital in Islamabad, told AFP that about 184 people have been taken to the hospital, while the Poly Clinic hospital is treating 130 wounded protesters.

LAKE SELIGER Russia (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin said on Friday
Russia's armed forces, backed by its nuclear arsenal, were ready to
meet any aggression, declaring at a pro-Kremlin youth camp that foreign
states should understand: "It's best not to mess with us."
Putin told the assembly, on the banks of a lake near Moscow, the Russian takeover of Crimea in March was essential to save a largely Russian-speaking population from Ukrainian government violence.
He said continued fighting in eastern Ukraine, where pro-Russian separatists launched an uprising in April, was the result of a refusal by Kiev to negotiate.

NATO is reportedly working towards the creation of an expeditionary force composed of 10,000 troops from seven different member states as a result of escalating tensions with Russia over the conflict in Ukraine.
According to the Financial Times, the force’s creation will be spearheaded by Britain and involve contributions from Denmark, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Norway, and the Netherlands. Canada is also interested in joining the group, but it’s not known what its final decision will be.

is warning a new sunspot spewing powerful X-class flares is beginning
to rotate to a position directly in line with Earth. A direct hit on
Earth from an X-class flare could cause major disruptions, or even

REMEMBER, IT’S NOT “ORGANIZED” LABOR DAY
Today is Labor Day, a celebration of the working stiff.
It is not, contrary to liberal propaganda, a day to
celebrate the parasitical unions that feed off the ingenuity, sweat and
risk-taking of entrepreneurs and business owners, and especially not the union
bosses who enrich themselves at the expense of the very workers they claim to
represent.
Oh…and TODAY should be the last day of summer vacation for our
kids, not last week. Or the week before
that.
The school year should start TOMORROW at the earliest. No reason to rush kids out of the swimming pool
and off the beach. There’s plenty of
time for the teachers’ union and school bureaucrats to foul up our kids’
futures in classrooms between now and Memorial Day.

The phrase “my yoke is easy and my burden is light” is part of a larger passage (Matthew 11:28-30), in which Jesus tells all who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest. He isn’t speaking here of physical burdens. Rather, it was the heavy burden of the system of works that the Pharisees laid on the backs of the people that Jesus was offering to relieve. Later on in Matthew’s gospel, Jesus will rebuke the Pharisees for laying heavy burdens on the shoulders of the people
