Conservatives,
FOX News reported today that an estimated 1.5 million people in
Iraq have been forced from their homes. For context, that number is
higher than the population in ten of our 50 states.
With ISIS terrorists still threatening Iraqi Christians and other
religious minorities, calls are increasing for the U.S. to do more than
provide humanitarian relief. Elias Kasem, a Phoenix-based Yazidi
community leader, who has family in Iraq, told FOX News:
“It
does not matter how much food and water I provide if I do nothing about
the terrorist that is holding a gun to your head. ... It is an imminent
genocide if the international powers do not step in right now."
Kasem
added that his relatives told him "they are in a 'dire' situation with
no access to shelter, food or water, and [they] fear constant attacks by
terrorists."
