Stands with A Nevada Rancher Family in Defense of Liberty
The
Internet has been on fire over the past few days reporting and
discussing the issue regarding a Nevada family and their fight to
retain property they have managed and claim ownership of for over
100 years. All the
details are unclear but what is clear is the Bureau of Land
Management, a private corporation based in Puerto Rico, has been
illegally encroaching on ranchers, driving them
out of homes and livelihoods for decades, illegally confiscating
land, using pretentious environmental rationale and bogus claims of
stewardship, in key commercially and industrially valuable areas
particularly in the western states, and specifically, just a few
miles northwest of Las Vegas.
The
standoff by Bureau of Land Management agents at the Bundy Ranch
developed as a threat over the last week or so. It escalated to the point of
arrests, tazing a couple citizens, impeding public access,
establishing ‘First Amendment-Free Zones’, intimidation by placing
snipers in high-visibility locations, Illegally rounding up, abusing
and in some cases, killing Bundy cattle and other livestock, while
generally creating a ‘no-man’s land’ around the Bundy property in
the vicinity of Bunkerville, Nevada.

Cliven Bundy just won a major battle against Harry Reid and his federal bureaucrats, but our war for freedom is far from over.
Saturday morning, the federal government announced they would back down and cease the collection of rancher Bundy's cattle. They pulled their armed Bureau of Land Management (BLM) personnel out of the area. With that victory under their belt, Bundy's supporters took the next step to free and take back the over 100 cattle that the government had seized during the week. With no resistance, they were able to open the pen and release the cattle to return to Bundy's ranch.
This is a major victory over the goliath known as the federal government.

Hello Don, In the UK if someone uses land and bars others from using it he becomes the owner of that land by "adverse possession". I know because I used the process about 11 years ago. There are probably similar judges rulings in the US. [YES. Don]
A qualification to what I have stated is that if the land was previously owned by a Elemosenary Charity the time is 20 years. If owned by the state it is 50 years. [In Nevada, it seems to be only 5 years according to the last-linked article]
American law is based on English common law, from which this
notion of adverse possession derives. Constitutional lawyers use common law to
argue cases.
