Mom Says “Brain Dead” Teen Jahi McMath is Doing Better Jahi McMath, who was left in a precarious medical state following a botched tonsillectomy, is reportedly doing better — according to an open letter her mother released online. Jahi was the subject of a national debate recently as her parents fought a hospital that wanted to remove her life support.

Two Charts on Minimum Wage

Last night on Crossfire, we debated the minimum wage with guests Ralph Nader and Stephen Moore. It was an excellent debate at just the right time, since President Obama is travelling the country advocating a hike in the minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour--a proposal which the Congressional Budget Office said this week would likely kill half a million jobs.
Many on the left, however, argue that making it illegal to hire employees for less than $10.10 an hour would not cause increased unemployment. Two charts in particular make a pretty strong case that they’re wrong—the President’s proposals would put more Americans out of work.

ANOTHER GAPING HOLE IN OBAMACARE

One of the key selling points of Obamacare was that folks who had pre-existing conditions could get coverage and not have to worry about sky-high premiums. Seems that was a lie, too. Under the law's "closed drug formulary," people whose medication isn't on the government's list - say for treatment of lupus or multiple sclerosis -- will have to pay a lot more:

"Dr. Scott Gottlieb of the American Enterprise Institute explains, 'if the medicine that you need isn't on that list, it's not covered at all. You have to pay completely out of pocket to get that medicine, and the money you spend doesn't count against your deductible, and it doesn't count against your out of pocket limits, so you're basically on your own.'"

This is America, not communist China -- but you wouldn't know it by the latest report on the FCC. First the government was spying on people's calls -- now the White House thinks it should make the call on whether the media is operating the way the administration rarely does: objectively. In a story that's exploding across the internet, the Federal Communications Commission is taking a beating for its latest suggestion that Big Brother be the big arbiter of media bias.
The FCC launched the idea late last year in the "Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs." And while the title sounds innocent enough, the agenda behind it is anything but. In between the 70-plus pages of complex tables and charts is the common theme of government intrusion in the free press -- another example of the heavy-handedness of this administration. The FCC says it wants to examine "the process by which stories are selected," as well as "perceived station bias" and "perceived responsiveness to underserved populations."

(S. 1982)   Senator Bernie Sanders (Vt.) Chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee (SVAC) has introduced the “Comprehensive Veterans Health and Benefits and Military Retirement Pay Restoration Act” (S. 1982). Included in this veterans omnibus bill is a provision  that will repeal the one-percent reduction in the annual Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for future retirees that join the military after January 1, 2014.  Unless the law is changed these future retirees would have their annual COLA cut by one percent until they reach age 62. The President recently signed legislation (S. 25) that excludes retirees who joined the military before January 1, 2014.  There are many other important provisions in S. 1982 that include:

While running that company, Matt Bevin put his signature on a prospectus for his company in which the company touted the economic benefits that would be derived from TARP. Pretty much every financially oriented business in America did the same at the time. That’s what Mitch McConnell, George Bush, Hank Paulson, and virtually everyone in Washington was telling everybody.

Matt Bevin did not vote for TARP. He did not lobby for TARP.

Mitch McConnell not only voted for TARP, but he whipped up votes for it. McConnell called passing TARP one of the finest days in the Senate’s history.

Former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell is facing accusations from Republicans that he misled lawmakers about the Obama administration's role in crafting the bogus storyline that a protest gone awry was to blame for the deadly Benghazi attack. 

Among other discrepancies, Republicans on the Senate Intelligence Committee allege Morell insisted the talking points were sent to the White House for informational purposes, and not for their input -- but emails, later released by the administration, showed otherwise.
