Hill Takes the Hypocritic Oath with New Health Plans
It may be a new year, but
there's nothing new about the frustration over ObamaCare. For millions
of Americans, the headaches they suffered when they woke up on January 1st
were purely financial. Starting last Wednesday, the government
officially flipped the switch on its health care exchanges, turning on
the coverage for hundreds of thousands of skeptical plan holders.
Today, one of those plan
holders, U.S. Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), is so upset about his
coverage that he's suing the administration responsible for changing it.
Of course, going to court over his signature law is nothing new for
President Obama, whose attorneys have worn out a path to judges' benches
all across the country. But unlike other high-profile cases, Sen. Johnson's challenge
is unique. As a member of Congress, the Wisconsin Senator (along with
every other Hill member and staff) was recently on the receiving end of a
very generous gift from the Obama administration -- a special
government allowance to help them buy health coverage on the exchange.
As Senator Johnson points out in his Wall Street Journal op-ed,
this congressional subsidy was something members of Congress already
debated and rejected. Back then, lawmakers agreed that Congress should
subject itself to the same health care it was forcing on the American
people.

Monday, January 06, 2014 At a recent press conference, President Obama was asked about the upcoming battle with Congress to raise the debt ceiling. He responded by again saying that he refuses to negotiate on the debt ceiling because we must agree to pay the bills that we have already incurred. His refusal to negotiate will be a problem in February and he is simply wrong to take that position. Why? It is true that we must pay our bills. But like any fiscally responsible entity, before agreeing to assume more debt, Congress simply wants some assurances that this pattern of spending significantly more than the government receives in annual income, will be at least curtailed. |

Conservatives,

Reid and his liberal colleagues in the Senate are pushing for a costly
three-month extension of expanded
unemployment benefits, which will harm both the economy and the very
unemployed individuals it is designed to assist. Tonight, the Senate
will cast a
crucial procedural vote on a plan to keep expanded unemployment
insurance benefits at 73 weeks.
Studies
have shown extending unemployment compensation for an excessive period
of
time reduces the likelihood that the unemployed will find new work.
When unemployed individuals remain jobless, their skills depreciate,
further
reducing their chances of finding new work.
If
this liberal bill becomes law–adding
47 weeks of unemployment benefits to the current 26 weeks–you, the
American taxpayer, will be left to pick up the $6.6 billion tab. And
make no
mistake, they'll be back for more in another three months.

Catholic schools all over the state of Wisconsin have decided to keep away from Common Core, the national education
standards.

Diocese of Superior, Wisconsin recently announced that its 15

Court Judge William Skretny upheld New York's anti-gun "SAFE" Act -- the
post-Sandy Hook bill that banned standard-capacity magazines as well as
semi-automatic rifles that look scary. Skretny said the law is just
fine because it serves to "further the state's important interest in
public safety." Unbelievably, he also wrote that gun control "is not a
judicial question; it is a political one." Wrong. It's a question of
Rule of Law -- either the Constitution means what it says or politicians
can do whatever they please. The case is no doubt headed to the Second
Circuit, where we hope constitutional sanity prevails.

enough, when GWB was president we heard about the the military deaths
in Iraq and Afghanistan almost daily. With Obama in the White House,
the mainstream media has been strangely quiet. ---

than 1,000 American soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan in
the last 27 months. This is more than the combined total of the nine
years before. Thirty died in August. During the last month, over 50
additional NATO and US servicemen have been murdered, inside jobs by
those who are hired to be a force for good in Afghanistan.
The
commander in Chief is AWOL. Not a peep, although he ordered the White
House flag flown at half-staff for the Sikhs that were killed. I
detect a deep disgust, a fury, growing in the ranks of the military
against the indifferent incompetence of this president.
