North Korea’s Overlooked Atrocities

Pyongyang’s decision to move forward with its December 12th ballistic missile test—last year’s second—was made in defiance of multiple UN Security Council resolutions and repeated warnings from the United States and the international community. More than two decades of engaging and negotiating with North Korea on security issues while relegating mass-atrocity crimes occurring within the country to a low-grade status, has borne no fruit and, for the millions who suffer from a state-induced famine and the hundreds of thousands of innocents languishing in hellish concentration camps, this approach has proven to be not only unethical but harmful. In the wake of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay’s January 14th call for an international inquiry into what “may amount to crimes against humanity,” and with reports of North Korea’s plan to conduct a third nuclear test in the very near future now surfacing, it is high time for the world community to fundamentally reassess policy on North Korea to focus on the unparalleled humanitarian and human rights emergency unfolding in the country today.

 funeral despite being invited to attend and thus snubbing
 England's invitation as a representative of the American
 people.

 Joe Biden also refused, as did Hillary Clinton.
 By the way, former Secretary of State George Schultz went to  the funeral.

 The British took note of the fact that the Obama  administration
chose not to send a single senior  member of the Cabinet.
 In fact, no actively serving, elected Democrat attended Lady
 Thatcher’s funeral.

 The Obama Administration did, however, send a formal  delegation
of 14 to the funeral of Socialist Dictator  Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez,
who died last month.

NAACP President Quits, Turned Civil Rights Org Into Pro-Abortion Group
NAACP President Benjamin Jealous will be stepping down in a few months from his position as the head of the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights group. During his tenure, Jealous oversaw the NAACP’s transformation into an abortion advocacy organization.

The NAACP passed a 2004 resolution voicing support for “equal access to abortion” and urging its members to participate in a pro-abortion rally in Washington. 'Either You Convert to Islam, Or You Will Be Beheaded'

The village of Maaloula has been taken over by Syrian rebels associated with al Qaeda, who have stormed the Christian center and offered local Christians a choice: conversion or death. A resident of the town said the rebels shouted “Allahu Akhbar” as they moved through the village, and proceeded to assault Christian homes and churches.

“They shot and killed people,” he said. “I heard gunshots and then I saw three bodies lying in the middle of a street in the old quarters of the village. Where is President Obama to see what has befallen us?” Another witness stated, “I saw the militants grabbing five villagers and threatening them and saying, ‘Either you convert to Islam, or you will be beheaded.’”


The village is located just 25 miles from Damascus, and sites within the village are dedicated as United Nations world heritage sites. Residents still speak Aramaic, the language of Jesus. The rebels who took over the city are associated with the al Nusra Front, an al Qaeda-associated Islamist group. Villagers reported foreign dialects ranging from Tunisian to Libyan, from Moroccan to Chechen.

The Number Of Private Sector Jobs Fell By 278,000 Last Month But The Economy Is Getting Better?

 

Have you heard about the “wonderful” employment numbers that were just released?  Last month, the unemployment rate declined to 7.3 percent.  Somehow this happened even though the percentage of working age Americans with a job actually declined and the number of private sector workers fell by 278,000.  So how did the federal government magically produce a drop in the unemployment rate even though less people have jobs?  Well, they did it by pretending that more than half a million Americans “dropped out of the labor force” last month.  If the government is to be believed, the number of Americans that want to work dropped by an astounding 516,000 in a single month even though the population of our country is constantly increasing.  The federal government continues to feed us absolutely absurd numbers month after month, and at this point “the official unemployment rate” is essentially meaningless.

But that doesn’t mean that Barack Obama is about to drop the charade.  In fact, he continues to insist that the economy is getting better.  The following is an excerpt from one of Obama’s recent weekly radio addresses…

Listening to Secretary of State John Kerry recently call Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's alleged use of chemical weapons on his own people a "moral obscenity" that "should shock the conscience of the world" was mind blowing.

The assessment was not. What Kerry said should be self-evident and Assad's actions, if true, worthy of often overused comparisons to Hitler and Stalin. What was shocking is that up until then I didn't think that the administration believed in evil. This is the same administration that has refused to call Army Major Nadal Hasan's murder of thirteen people and the injuring of 30 others at Fort Hood in 2009 a terrorist attack, preferring instead the meaningless label of "workplace violence," contrary to all evidence.

Excerpt: What is liberalism? By that term I mean the intellectual effort to apologize for and defend economic programs primarily associated with Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson. There are four main ones: The substitution of regulation for markets, The substitution of social insurance for private provision, The nationalization of welfare, and The manipulation of the economy by the government. It is difficult to exaggerate how completely this intellectual movement dominated thinking in the post-World War II period. During the 1950s and 1960s there was virtually no book, no journal, and no college campus where you could find a serious competing point of view. When I was an undergraduate at the University of Texas in the 1960s, there were only two people on the entire liberal arts faculty who you could describe as right of center ― a moderate Republican in the English department and a libertarian in the Political Science department. And this was a campus with 27,000 students! (when I was a student at U-Mass, 1970-72, there were two Republicans in the Political Science Department, one moderate and one conservative.
