I’m not a big gun guy.  I am, however, a big gun rights guy.

My personal experiences with guns can be counted on two fingers…

Once, some 20-plus years ago, my wife and I went skeet shooting in Mesquite.  She was popping ‘em left and right; I barely saw the darned things flying through the air.  The second time was a couple years ago when a friend took me to the Front Sight training facility outside Pahrump for a two-day defensive handgun course.

The course itself was intense and a little intimidating for a “newbie.”  What was not intimidating, though, was walking among dozens of people, all of whom were packing heat on their hips.  Never felt safer in my life.

But while I may not be what is considered a gun enthusiast, I saw no reason not to take my first-born, Kristen, out to the gun range for her 13th birthday last week and let her squeeze off a few rounds for the first time in her life.

Not because I thought that someday she might want to go elk hunting in Alaska with Sarah Palin, but because someday she might want to get a concealed-carry permit to protect herself from anyone who might wish to do her harm.  You know, like a rapist or a murderer…or the government.

Ask Nevada State Senators to Oppose Driving Privilege Cards for Illegal Aliens
SB 303, a bill that would give illegal aliens access to special driving privilege cards, may soon be considered in the Nevada Senate's Transportation Committee. It's unlikely that the bill can be defeated in the Senate since 14 of the 21 members of that chamber are bill co-sponsors, including Democratic Majority Leader Mo Denis and Republican Minority Leader Michael Roberson. Still, we need to fight the bill every step of the way. We do not want U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to learn that a bill benefiting illegal aliens passed in his state without a fight!

Senator Lindsey Graham has publically announced a significant part of what the Obama administration is trying to cover up in Benghazi-gate: The magnitude of gunrunning and fighter recruitment – even involving jihadist organizations – to oppose Syrian government forces through the U.S. facility in Benghazi, Libya. 
 
Asked by Fox News’ Bret Baier why Ambassador Chris Stevens was in Benghazi when he knew that security was untenable, Senator Graham answered… 
 
“Because that’s where the action was regarding the rising Islamic extremists who were trying to get their hands on weapons that are flowing freely in Libya. We were desperately trying to control the anti-aircraft missiles, the MANPADS [Man-portable air defense systems] that were all over Libya, that are now all over the Mideast.”
 
Graham’s interview has opened another window into the Benghazi assault and subsequent cover-up.  He categorically blames President Obama – the Commander in Chief – for the death of Ambassador Stevens.
