The vaccination decision is one of the most important choices we can make as parents. However, in questioning vaccines, we open ourselves up to a great deal of criticism, disapproval and accusations of child neglect from doctors, school administrators, public health officials, family members and other parents. How, they ask, do we dare question a practice that has prevented so many devastating diseases and saved so many lives? Aren’t we putting our child and other children at risk for contracting serious diseases? After all, the government agencies designated to protect public health and most doctors say that childhood vaccines are safe.

TEXAS - MINERAL SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL TEMPORARILY INSANE?

The City Council of a town in North Texas is rethinking a local ordinance limiting flags on veterans' graves after an outcry from local veterans and residents.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports the Mineral Wells City Council passed the ordinance on June 19 saying flags would only be allowed on graves in the Woodland Park Cemetery for a week before and after Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

The ordinance bans any mementos on graves that are not in an 'appropriate receptacle,' such as a vase.City Clerk Juanita Formby says this means the city is not completely banning flags, just regulating them.

The High Sierra town of Mammoth Lakes, Calif., said Monday that it filed for bankruptcy because it cannot afford to pay a $43 million breach-of-contract judgment brought against it by a developer.

In a prepared statement, Mammoth Lakes officials said “bankruptcy, unfortunately, is the only option left” for the town, whose largest creditor, Mammoth Lakes Land Acquisition, had won a state court order requiring full payment by June 30, 2012.

Facing a judgment nearly three times the size of its annual operating budget and a $2.8 million shortfall in its 2011-12 fiscal year, the town had already cut many services and asked employees to take reductions in pay. Compounding problems, the adjacent Mammoth Mountain ski resort was forced to lay off 70 full-time employees last year because of a dearth of snow.

A breakdown in negotiations with the developer was the last straw.

The town plans to ask the bankruptcy court to approve a payment plan it claims is the most it can afford without jeopardizing the safety of residents and tourists: $500,000 a year over the next 10 years.

National Alliance to End Homelessness Endorses Women'sHomeless Veterans Act

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) issued the following statement regarding the National Alliance to End Homelessness endorsement of the Women's Homeless Veterans Act (S. 3308). This bill, introduced by Senator Heller, would require at least 15 percent of funds provided to the Department of Veterans Affairs Grant and Per Diem Program to be allocated to homeless veterans with special needs, which provides assistance to homeless female veterans and children. It also reimburses shelters and facilities that provide services to children of homeless veterans.

“I am pleased that the National Alliance to End Homelessness has endorsed the Women's Homeless Veterans Act. Too many of our heroes are coming home from overseas to their homes underwater and high unemployment in their communities. As the demographics of our Armed Forces have changed throughout the years, so too have the needs of homeless veterans. Many homeless shelters were not designed to serve the needs of female veterans or homeless veterans with children. This legislation increases funding for homeless women veterans and provides additional resources for children. I am grateful for this endorsement,” said Senator Dean Heller.

So far, the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, the American Legion, the Disabled Veterans National Foundation and The Filipino-American Veterans & Families of America - Nevada Chapter have endorsed the Women's Homeless Veterans Act.

If Barack Obama has an immediate eligibility problem, it is more likely to derive from the Social Security Number he has been using for the last 25 years than from his birth certificate.

Ohio private investigator Susan Daniels has seen to that. On Monday, July 2, she filed suit in Geauga County (Ohio) Common Pleas Court demanding that Jon Husted, Ohio secretary of state, remove Obama’s name from the ballot until Obama can prove the validity of his Social Security Number.

Daniels, who has vetted thousands of Social Security Numbers for numerous other clients, has done her homework. In her filing, she thoroughly documents her contention “that Barack Obama has repeatedly, consistently, and with intent misrepresented himself by using a fraudulently obtained Social Security Number.”

To acquire appropriate standing in court, Daniels has gone to the trouble of establishing herself as a valid write-in candidate for president. Before she is through, this 70-something mother of seven, who has been a licensed Ohio PI since 1995, may cause Obama more trouble than the Romney campaign.
