Utilities warn of higher rates because of pollution rules

Two state utilities said this week new federal pollution rules will lead to higher electricity costs come January.
Wisconsin Public Service Corp. of Green Bay said its residential customers can expect an increase of more than $4 a month next year, including about $2 linked to the new rules designed to limit air pollution from coal-fired power plants.
The utility said it would see higher costs of about $32.6 million in 2012 from the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule that was finalized recently by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. That will result in rates going up by 6.8% instead of 3.4%, the utility said.

     California attorney Orly Taitz recently traveled to Hawaii and asked the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) to allow her to view Barack Obama's original birth certificate, and DOH said "no." They told Taitz that Obama's original birth certificate is sealed as a matter of "privacy."

Have you registered your opposition to the Obama Labor Board's latest scheme designed to force workers under union-boss control?

Monday, August 22 is the last day the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) will accept comments on its proposed changes to union certification election procedures.

Over 17,000 individuals have submitted comments -- mostly Right to Work supporters who have written to express their outrage with this latest union-boss power grab.

In fact, one former NLRB board member told The Daily Callerthis week that he hasn't seen the public turn up the heat on the NLRB like this in almost 40 years.

Submitted by: Donald Hank Bad News Posted: 18 Aug 2011 06:38 PM PDT The bad news about the economy just keeps rolling in.  If this is an economic recovery, what in the world is the next "recession" going to look like?  Today there was another huge truckload of bad economic news.  The stock market had another 400 point "correction", applications for unemployment benefits are up again, inflation is higher than expected, home sales have dropped again and Europe is coming apart at the seams.  The financial markets have been in such a state of chaos recently that days like today don't even seem "unusual" anymore.  But we should all be alarmed at what is happening.  We haven't seen anything quite like this since the darkest days of 2008 and 2009.  If more bad news keeps pouring in, we may soon have a very real panic on our hands. I would have thought that my article yesterday, "20 Signs That The World Could Be Headed For An Economic Apocalypse In 2012", would have contained enough bad economic news to last for a while.  But today there was another huge bumper crop of depressing numbers. Are you ready for the carnage?

Gov. Rick Perry of Texas is now the frontrunner for the Republican nomination.  Many people are aware of his focus on the Tenth Amendment, his state’s tremendous record of job creation (40% of all jobs created since the beginning of the recession have been in Texas), and his formidable campaigning abilities.  But as with all other Republican candidates, there are rumors swirling about his positions and history that are worth examining.  Let’s take them, point by point.

Myth #1: Perry is the return of Bush and therefore unelectable.

Unlike Sarah Palin, Perry is literally undefeated.  He has never lost an election – that’s ten straight contested elections.  In 2008, Perry ripped President Bush’s high-spending approach to governance.  In revenge, the entire Bush political team – Bush 41, James Baker, Karl Rove, Karen Hughes — mobilized against him in 2010, backing squishy Republican Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison in the gubernatorial race.  Hutchison started up with a 25 point lead, thanks to that support. By the end of the primaries, Hutchison was down 22 points.  That’s a 47 point swing, folks.  Perry is able to gain wide and deep support.  He’s not Bush – Karl Rove is already attacking him.  And he knows how to punch his opponents in the mouth, as Mitt Romney is already learning.
