The Obama doctrine: Leading from behind

Obama may be moving toward something resembling a doctrine. One of his advisers described the president’s actions in Libya as “leading from behind.”

To be precise, leading from behind is a style, not a doctrine. Doctrines involve ideas, but since there are no discernible ones that make sense of Obama foreign policy — Lizza’s painstaking two-year chronicle shows it to be as ad hoc, erratic and confused as it appears — this will have to do.
And it surely is an accurate description, from President Obama’s shocking passivity during Iran’s 2009 Green Revolution to his dithering on Libya, acting at the very last moment, then handing off to a bickering coalition, yielding the current bloody stalemate. It’s been a foreign policy of hesitation, delay and indecision, marked by plaintive appeals to the (fictional) “international community” to do what only America can.
But underlying that style, assures this Obama adviser, there really are ideas. Indeed, “two unspoken beliefs,” explains Lizza. “That the relative power of the U.S. is declining, as rivals like China rise, and that the U.S. is reviled in many parts of the world.”

Fact: The Tea Party movement is growing.  Our hard work and your support are paying off to the tune of tens of thousands new members every week!  Our strength is in numbers allowing us to pool small individual contributions into a massive political machine.

COMPARE MILITARY RETIREMENT TO THAT OF CONGRESS   

No one has been able to explain to me why young men and women serve in
     the U.S. Military for 20 years, risking their lives protecting freedom,
     and only get 50% of their pay. While Politicians hold their political
     positions in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these same
     men and women, and receive full pay retirement after serving one term. It
     just does not make any sense.

     Monday on Fox news they learned that the staffers of Congress family
     members are exempt from having to pay back student loans. This will get
     national attention if other news networks will broadcast it. When you add
     this to the below, just where will all of it stop?

Republican Assembly Minority Leader Pete Goicoechea was spittin’ nails.  I mean he was livid.  According to a report by Anjeanette Damon of the Las Vegas Sun, “Tax My Meat” Pete was furious with some of his fellow legislators in Carson City this week.

No, silly, not with the Democrats.  Assembly GOP leaders don’t get mad at Democrats.  They “cooperate” with Democrats in a “bipartisan” fashion.  Never is heard a discouraging word. Can’t we all just get along?  Kumbaya, my lord, kumbaya…

Here is a debunking of the contention that the Obama BC was originally copied with OCR (character recognition s/w).

According to this computer graphics specialist, if that were the case, there would have been many more layers. Not everything here is understandable to the lay person, but show it to anyone who knows computer graphics and they will understand.

That is a felony,BTW.

Someone needs to get this case into a court of law. (Someone who knows graphics also needs to write a "Obama's BC for Dummies" text for this).

Took a cab home from a meeting in downtown Chicago late Friday night. The black driver had one of those lilting, African accents, so I asked where he was from. "I am from Nigeria, Sir. But I am a citizen and I have been in this great country 23 years." I mentioned the turmoil in Nigeria and asked if he was from the South or the North. "I am a Christian from southern Nigeria, sir. It is the Muslims in the north who are creating the trouble. I do not know what it is about that religion that it makes so many people want to hate and kill." Me either. But I told him I was glad he was here, and that we need more immigrants like him who wanted to be Americans, not destroy America.

Sharron Angle sent out a new fundraising email today, declaring her intent to run in the CD2 special election now scheduled for next September.  I found this part rather funny:

“The Democrats want this seat.  The left wing of the Republican Party wants it more.  Instead of an open process - already they are behind closed doors, choosing one of their own to be the preferred candidate in the race.
