Courtesy of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, a cheap, reliable, and comforting 130-year-old invention would begin to be phased out in 2012 through 2014. The switch is to be permanently thrown to "off" on Thomas Edison’s incandescent light bulb, unless H.R. 91, Republican Joe Barton’s (Texas) newly introduced legislation will see the light of day. The Better Use of Light Bulbs Act would repeal provisions in the 2007 law, PL 110-140, and reinstate the disfavored incandescent bulb as a consumer choice for lighting homes.
The debate for some centers around the energy efficiency of the incandescent bulbs vs. compact fluorescents and LEDs. The supposed longer life-span and estimates of 50 to 70 percent less electricity usage of the CFLs -- leaving LEDs out of the discussion for now due to enormous expense and technical glitches -- is highly touted. Unfortunately, they are more expensive to manufacture, are mostly manufactured outside the United States, cast a harsh “cool white” light on surroundings, emit UV rays, take minutes to warm up, and contain mercury -- a danger to people that causes disposal problems of EPA proportions and environmental concerns. The mercury in one CFL bulb, 5 milligrams, is enough to contaminate up to 6,000 gallons of water. Low-mercury bulbs can still contaminate more than 1,000 gallons of water, as a Stanford University study revealed.

An ex-CIA agent and counter-intelligence expert has revealed in a special report that Barack Obama has quietly appointed members of the Muslim Brotherhood to key posts within the Administration. Dr. Clare Lopez, professor at the Centre for Counterintelligence and Security Studies, wrote a policy paper in December of 2009 which details the systematic appointment of Sharia-friendly advocates within the State Department and other government agencies.
For example, the Tehran-born Dr. Vali Nasr was appointed to co-direct Obama foreign policy toward Afghanistan and Pakistan. Former Saudi Arabian supplicant Charles Freeman was appointed by Obama to chair the Administration's National Intelligence Council, but withdrew his name when it was revealed he issued a 2-page screed in which he postulated a conspiracy theory claiming he had been 'victimized' by American supporters of Israel. In addition, John Limbert was appointed to direct U.S. policy toward the Islamist regime in Iran. Limbert, who was taken hostage during the Iranian upheaval of the late 70s-early 80s, is an Iranian sympathizer who advocates negotiation with one of the most brutal dictatorships in the world.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Home prices in a majority of major U.S. cities tracked by a private trade group have fallen to their lowest levels since the housing bubble burst, and analysts expect further declines this year.The Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller 20-city home price index fell 1 percent in December from November. Prices fell in all but one of the metropolitan markets tracked.
The only city to see a gain was Washington, where hiring by the federal government has helped boost the region's job market.

You know, the type of card the Nazi's and the communists in the Soviet Union made people carry. In 1993 the Republican Congress referred to it as an "internal passport" when the Clinton Administration initially tried to create it---first as a national healthcare card, then as a "jobs card" to keep illegal aliens from stealing jobs from U.S. citizens and finally, in 1996, as a national drivers' license.
Based on the provisions of The Real ID Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-13, 119 Stat 392), Barack Obama's Department of Homeland Security will now require the federalization of State-issued driver's licenses by May 11, 2011. Every State will be required to issue driver's licenses that conform to new federal identification compliance "standards."
Living in America, did you ever think you'd experience the invasive government, Big Brother tactics that we see in movies of Nazi Germany, in which uniformed officers demand: "Where are your papers?"

WHY PUBLIC UNION CONTRACTS ARE DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY
There’s a simple reason that public employees, federal, state and city, have fat salaries, Cadillac retirements and high option medical insurance programs.
The mayors and managers who sign these contracts aren’t paying them, we are!
In most cases, the top dogs are cheap politicians who are elected or appointed. For years, these mayors and appointed department heads have had no motivation whatsoever for refusing to sign any union contract no matter how inflated and heavy a burden it would place on the taxpayers.
It takes about 80 private workers to pay the retirement income of a single Los Angeles fireman or typical federal employee. Union garbage collectors in NY can earn six figure salaries starting at $70,000. This is nuts!
Why would any fat cat who wants only to remain in office so he can continue to line his pockets want to enrage the police, fireman or school teachers by fighting them when they demand more……….? OF COURSE, HE WONT! He will always go along and sign anything they put in front of him……After all, he’s going to retire on some Caribbean island…….
To allow any elected official to sign any public union contract without civilian (taxpayer) oversight is insane and is the simple reason we have gotten into this mess. The idea that anyone can work 20 years doing anything and expect to be paid and insured for the rest of his life is absolutely stupid!
Private companies, where the guy signing the union contract is the owner, or a stockholder, are always contested……… The company owner doesn’t give a damm if the union bosses are upset…. After all the money saved is his!
