Virginia Attorney On ObamaCare Hearing: Make It Quick Virginia's attorney general has asked the Supreme Court to fast-track his state's legal challenge to the federal health care overhaul, saying state governments and businesses deserve to know the fate of the law as soon as possible. The unusual request comes three days after a Florida judge struck down the law over concerns about its requirement that people buy health insurance. A Virginia judge had earlier ruled that the so-called individual mandate was unconstitutional .... Read More |

Labor Force Participation Plunges To Fresh 26 Year Low
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 02/04/2011 08:57 -0500
At 64.2%, the labor force participation rate (as a percentage of the total civilian noninstitutional population) is now at a fresh 26 year low, the lowest since March 1984, and is the only reason why the unemployment rate dropped to 9% (labor force declined from 153,690 to 153,186). Those not in the Labor Force has increased from 83.9 million to 86.2 million, or 2.2 million in one year! As for the numerator in the fraction, the number of unemployed, it has plunged from 15 million to 13.9 million in two months! The only reason for this is due to the increasing disenchantment of those who completely fall off the BLS rolls and no longer even try to look for a job. Lastly, we won't even show what the labor force is as a percentage of total population. It is a vertical plunge.
Lee ADDS: True UNEMPLOYMENT exceeds 19% as Obama says it dropped!

A Trafficking Survivor's Plea to Super Bowl Hosts and NFL by Amanda Kloer January 25, 2011 12:40 PM (PT)
A.H. was trafficked to Dallas/Ft. Worth and forced into prostitution when she was just a teen. Like many other girls, she was beaten, raped, and enslaved not far from Dallas Cowboys stadium, where the 2011 Super Bowl will be held. To fight back against sex trafficking in Dallas and during major events like the Super Bowl, A.H. has written an open letter to the 2011 Super Bowl Host Committee and the NFL, asking them to endorse the I’m Not Buying It campaign. Will you help support her?

OBAMA AND THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD - BEDMATES?
Submitted by: Donald Hank
Obama is hell-bent on radicalizing Egypt. It is obvious (see link below).
European nations as well as some leaders in the Middle East are aware of this and concerned. Even newscasts from Japan that I have watched reflect this concern over the fate of the Middle East and fear of the radical Muslim Brotherhood, which Obama clearly embraces.
Perhaps now is the time for Europe to flex its muscles and for a leader -- and then another, perhaps -- to say: stop the suicide, Mr. President.
After the financial crisis, which started in the US, and the continued destruction of the dollar by the Fed, as sanctioned by Obama, it should be obvious that the world does not NEED any more US meddling. It needs to assert itself.
The time is now:

Madison Theatre Company: Angry At Arizona and Tea Party? Come Watch Us Kill Some Conservatives! by Dan Riehl
An apparently liberal theatre group in Madison, Wisconsin, is playing victim in response to pushback they’ve gotten for putting on a play that has liberal grad students murdering “right-wingers.” Hey, we take jabs at the Left, too, or so goes the claim. But comments from the theatre’s artistic director, Rachel Jenkins-Bledsoe, while marketing the event, provides links to the Tea Party and the Arizona illegal immigration issue. Bledsoe presents the production as an outlet for frustration from the nation’s current Right-turn. One can only imagine the outrage were a Southern religious university to produce a play that had “redneck” Christians killing them a bunch of liberals, while making jokes about themselves in the process….

POLITICAL DIGEST 02/05/2011 CONSERVATIVE
I post articles because I think they are of interest. Doing so doesn’t mean that I necessarily agree (or disagree) with every—or any—opinion in the posted article. Help your friends and relatives stay informed by passing the digest on.
Egypt
In deference to those who are “mummied out,” I moved today’s Egypt articles to the end, to give other issues a chance. Fair and Balanced, yes?
Property Taxes
People are being priced out of Crook Country, Illinois, as the union vote-buying bills come due. Our property taxes went up 33% in 2010 despite a lowered assessment of about 25%. Just got the first bill for this year and there’s another 55% increase. We will pay more in property taxes on a $160k condo here than on the $250k condo we own in Madison, WI where we have my stepdaughter and granddaughter living. And Madison isn’t known for low property taxes. This is on top of the 67% increase in the Illinois state income taxes and the huge increase of the corporate taxes, designed to attract business and jobs out of Illinois. Elections have consequences. Wish I owned a moving company—I think they will be busy. If people can sell their homes.
JUST WHO IS PULLING OBAMA'S STRINGS ON EGYPT?
Why Obama has to get Egypt right
By George SorosRevolutions usually start with enthusiasm and end in tears. In the case of the Middle East, the tears could be avoided if President Obama stands firmly by the values that got him elected. Although American power and influence in the world have declined, our allies and their armies look to us for direction. These armies are strong enough to maintain law and order as long as they stay out of politics; thus the revolutions can remain peaceful. That is what the United States should insist on while encouraging corrupt and repressive rulers who are no longer tolerated by their people to step aside and allow new leaders to be elected in free and fair elections.
LEFT DETESTS CHRISTIANS

A Christian Business in the Left's Crosshairs
Here's a modest proposal for liberals who say they support job creation: Stop smearing successful, law-abiding private companies whose values don't comport with yours. I'm looking at you, New York Times.
Chick-fil-A is an American success story. Founded by Georgian entrepreneur Truett Cathy in 1946, the family-owned chicken-sandwich chain is one of the country's largest fast-food businesses. It employs some 50,000 workers across the country at 1,500 outlets in nearly 40 states and the District of Columbia . The company generates more than $2 billion in revenue and serves millions of happy customers with trademark Southern hospitality.
ABORTION COVER UP REVEALED!
Dear RedState Morning Briefing Readers:
Late yesterday RedState broke a significant story, found in this morning's Morning Briefing, which points to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the nation’s premier public health organization, making a conscious decision to stop publishing the only federal report on abortion.
To briefly recap, for 40 years the CDC has published the Abortion Surveillance Report. For 40 years that report has appeared in the last November or first December issue of CDC’s journal, the Morbidity and Mortality Report Weekly Report. This year it didn’t. A RedState tradition has been to use this report for our annual retrospective on abortion. When it didn’t appear in November… or December… or in January we decided to ask why.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. intelligence agencies are drawing criticism from the Oval Office and Capitol Hill that they failed to warn of revolts in Egypt and the downfall of an American ally in Tunisia.
President Barack Obama sent word to National Intelligence Director James Clapper that he was "disappointed with the intelligence community" over its failure to predict the outbreak of demonstrations would lead to the ouster of President Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali in Tunis, according to one U.S. official familiar with the exchanges, which were expressed to Clapper through White House staff.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss matters of intelligence, said there was little warning before Egypt's riots as well.
SHAME ON DEMS!
Black American Dreads Black History Month
February 1, 2011, I can't help imagining Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the NAACP, the Congressional Black Caucus and all of the other race profiteering usual suspects joyously awakening with a song in their hearts, “It's The Most Wonderful Month of the Year”.
Ah yes, another Black History Month, time to pitch as many new “guilt trip” government entitlement programs as possible. “I mean, after all, we blacks are still victims of America's racist attitudes and systematic abuse which has changed very little since the 50s. White America still owes us, dammit!”

OBAMACARE - GRANNY IS GOING TO BE MAD!
The Politics of Saving 'Granny'
By Karl Rove (Wall Street Journal)
Alice Rivlin and Paul Ryan have a bipartisan plan.
ObamaCare has recently been dealt three body blows. Speaker John Boehner pushed a bill to repeal it through the House. GOP leader Mitch McConnell will get to put Senate Democrats on record with a vote on repeal as well. And this week, U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson declared the law unconstitutional.
The White House's reaction is dismissive. The nation doesn't want to "re-litigate" ObamaCare, we're told. So long as Mr. Obama sits in the Oval Office, repeal is going nowhere. The Supreme Court will uphold the law. And by 2012, health care will be a winning issue for Democrats.
I'm not so sure. Take the question of Granny. In a speech last Friday defending his health-care law's effect on seniors against GOP attacks, Mr. Obama said, "I can report that Granny is safe." She may not feel that way if she's one of the 700,000 seniors whose private Medicare Advantage insurance policy was not renewed last year because her insurance provider quit the business.
There will be more nonrenewals in 2011. This year's funding cuts to Medicare Advantage will be $2 billion; next year's will be $6 billion. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) estimate that half of those with Medicare Advantage policies—seven million seniors—will lose their coverage eventually. And 60% the doctors surveyed by the nonprofit Physicians Foundation said health-care reform would "compel them to close or significantly restrict" the number of patients in their practices, especially those on Medicare or Medicaid.
