RSC Update: House GOP Working to Cut Spending & Defend Marriage

Federal spending has skyrocketed in recent years.  Between 2008 and 2010, Democrats increased discretionary spending by 24%.  And since 2007, total federal spending has risen by nearly 36%.  Simply “freezing” spending at these bloated levels will do nothing to prevent the nation’s job-crushing debt burden from doing further harm to our economy.  The House has already approved a bill to save taxpayers $61 billion and keep the government running after March 4.  To date, however, Senate Democrats have recklessly refused to cut even one penny from the federal budget.  For this reason, the House will vote this week on a short-term bill saves taxpayers $4 billion while keeping the government open for two more weeks.

At Sunday night’s Oscars, "True Grit" shot blanks in all 10 of its nomination categories. Although Hollywood understandably shunned this morally-certain tale of a willful young woman demanding justice, we can still hope House Republicans will take some cues from the film before its DVD slots at Wal-Mart need re-stocking.

In the movie, 14-year-old Mattie Ross hires U.S. Marshall Rooster Cogburn to hunt down the man who robbed and murdered her father. She’s convinced that Cogburn (like herself) has “true grit” – a fierce determination to get the job done against tough odds. 

It’s an apt metaphor for the Tea Party movement and House Speaker John Boehner’s Republicans: Outraged by the near-criminal negligence of over-spending pols charging 40 cents per dollar of Washington’s spending to the U.S. credit card – and onto the backs of future generations – Tea Partiers and the U.S. electorate “hired” a House GOP majority last November to hunt down and hang the economy-killing excesses of Presidents Obama, Bush and a bipartisan gang of thieves on Capitol Hill.

Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford said recently that, "You can't maintain an ideological position that keeps you from tackling the real problems of the state in ways that are courageous."
While Horsford was referring to Gov. Brian Sandoval's opposition to tax increases, he may as well have been referring to his own and his fellow Democrats' opposition to substantive and proven education reforms.
Educational achievement, or rather the lack thereof, is a real and well-documented problem in Nevada. Education Week reports that Nevada's graduation rate is a nation-worst 41.8 percent, and many of the students who do graduate aren't ready for college. Of students using the Millennium Scholarship, 27 percent have to take remedial college courses.
What's sad about this is that proven education reforms have been implemented around the country and have taught us the kinds of policies that work.
The best state with which to compare Nevada is Florida. In 1998, Florida and Nevada posted the same score on the National Assessment of Educational Progress fourth-grade reading exam. Starting in 1999, then-Florida governor Jeb Bush instituted a series of education reforms, including:

Harry Reid’s Government Shutdown

The U.S. Senate returns from their ten day President’s Day break on Monday facing a deadline for funding the federal government of Friday, Mar. 4.
Like a kid who puts off his homework until the night before it is due, Washington will be abuzz of talk of government shutdowns as Harry Reid and his merry band of Democrats look for co-conspirators across the aisle to push through a bill that only pretends to cut spending.
Reid is already claiming that the Senate has made more than $40 billion in cuts, simply by not using the budget that the President submitted last fiscal year. Of course, the only problem with this claim is that it is based upon a lie.
Last year, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi chose to not pass any budget, let alone the one the President suggested, so to claim that they have already cut $41 billion off a budget that was never even considered is worse than disingenuous.

I have a problem and need advice and direction.  This is being sent to my representatives and fellow citizens who might have a suggestion on how I might find the ways and means to address these issues productively.  Elections are not the answer, so what is?

How is it that we have massive budget shortfalls in Texas ... which include State, County and City budgets and yet our public employees continue to squander our money on Illegal Aliens and their anchor babies?  While our borders continue to be an unprotected sieve for armed cartels and illegals swarming into our nation for food stamps, housing, earned income credits supposedly reserved for actual citizens and all manner of tax-funded welfare also intended for CITIZENS; our Fiduciaries are entertaining everything from Amnesty to 'work visas' at the expense of citizens who are unemployed and need those jobs.  Most illegals work jobs that pay 'under the table cash' while they enjoy free medical care and free delivery of their illegal anchor babies...many work jobs using the social security numbers of citizens who then are forced to prove they are not the beneficiaries of that income, but are being held up to pay the taxes on it.  Many who run the border or continue to reside in Texas are not here to obtain the jobs they have no right to...instead they are here to vote illegally in our elections, enroll their children in our schools for free educations/breakfast and lunch programs, rally and demonstrate illegally in our streets for 'their' rights?, commit all manner of crimes against our citizens and strangle our courts and related systems in the process...only to be set free to continue their path of destruction.

I took this scary little Science Fiction novel with me this weekend, visiting relatives, and stayed up very late Sunday morning finishing it at about 4:00 am. If you like SF adventure and are worried about the future of our world, check this one out. Kratman is a fine writer, and it was more gripping as it went on. Set 100 years in the future, when America has become of necessity a military empire facing the Muslim Caliphate of Europe, it lifts from today’s headlines to create a scary buy plausible future. He uses current quotes like the one below as a basis for events in the book.

Doris Parker Comments: Somehow even though many complain about the government taking  care of everyone's needs or greeds, in some cases, I have the feeling when it gets down to the nitty gritty and the government starts to stop a lot of the programs many that hollered for cutting will say that they didn't mean what they get from the government. Like Social Security that is the only source they have to live on. Military retirement pay, Civil Service Retirement pay. SSI for those that have no form of retirement as well as indigent veterans Old people that are in Rest Homes. Medicare.

 A lot of these programs I have heard many say more and more lately  that people have already gotten far more than they have ever paid into them as well as the interest that they would have gotten if they had put that money somewhere to draw interest from. It's a sad fact that when cutting starts, as it will have to because of someone having spent a lot of money in the past two years that cuts will be coming and they will hurt many that aren't expecting it to be at their door.

The Boiling Over of the Liberal Mind is on full display these days, and it is not a pretty sight.

Union protesters in Wisconsin compared Gov. Scott Walker to former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and other tyrants. A sign showed him in a Nazi salute and screamed, "Heil Walker." Another said, "Hitler, Stalin, Walker." Still another showed a swastika next to his name.

New York unions also reached back to World War II, although with a twist. "Wisconsin: Our Pearl Harbor," wrote John Samuelson, president of the local Transport Workers Union, which represents transit workers. He railed against "enemies of labor and democracy."

Steve Bridges imitated George Bush on the Jay Leno Show during the entire eight years he was president. He was made up to look and act almost exactly like Bush. He has now started imitating Obama and REALLY does it right. The Administration has tried to put a stop to Bridges' act because Obama has made it known that he is deeply offended. Is anybody really surprised that a group of Teamsters swarmed across a Sacramento street to physically attack our people during a Move On sponsored anti-Taxpayer rally Saturday (February 26, 2011) at the California State Capitol?

This was the second such protest within days at the same location.  Earlier in the week (Tuesday) the Service Employees International Union (which in California represents largely illegal aliens and is a chief advocate for amnesty) held a similar event.

Where the hell are the Conservative leaders?  We need more Scott Walkers in our world. How in the name of God is a Senator allowed to hold positions in America at the same time they hold offices in another country?  I'm ignorant on this so I'm going to ask where Issa is on this?  Which agency, committee has the duty to act upon something like this?  Anyone who does not see this problem with Robles as a Homeland Security issue and a violation of the requirements to hold such a vital position in our government is in deep denial or corrupt.

 

This demonstrates 'why' all these scumbags don't step up.  Too many of them are breaking laws or have done so previously  It's no different than a street gang that takes over turf and then blackmails and threatens any one who puts their power at risk.  They all seem to have something on one another.  Look at Rangel, Frank, Pelosi, Maxine Waters...in your face violations of trust and wholesale criminality and theft and they walk while a guy who steals a car or a TV faces far greater accountability, cost and punishment for his crime.

And what the HELL is wrong with Utah?  They will have their own 'little' Mexico from this legislation and a stinking mess for a state in no time.  What part of NO jobs for Illegal Aliens and NO immigration until our citizens are employed and back to the business of contributing to our economy?  It is exhausting to fight our legislators and other Fiduciaries, foreign invaders and illegal aliens and now this wholesale thuggery of greedy public sector teachers/garbage collectors/  who operate like street gang members with an attitude that they deserve more than their fellow private sector citizens; and see no real accountability being brought to bear upon any of them.  Conversely, the average real citizen is being assaulted, threatened, ruined, violated and intimidated on a daily basis and if they are unable to pay taxes (tribute to the trolls) because of the destruction wrought by all of this corruption; they are the only ones facing prosecution and seizure of whatever they have left.

 

All rhetorical questions...just a rant.  We all know what is going on and why.  I just wish more people would face it.

Libya: British special forces conduct daring rescue

British special forces troops conducted a daring rescue and evacuation operation on Saturday that one U.S. counterterrorist called "a mission deserving of motion picture depiction."

On Saturday, members of the United Kingdom's Special Air Service, or SAS, landed in military transport aircraft in a remote area near a Libyan seaport. The SAS operatives had flown from Malta after planning the rescue of civilian workers from the U.K. 

 

The operation was initiated when British officials in London began to fear their workers might be taken hostage by Libya's regular army or the hired mercenaries from Chad and the Sudan who've gained a reputation for being brutal, "loose cannons."

-- Recently, in the City of Dallas, Texas, they passed an ordinance that if you are pulled over by law enforcement and not able to provide proof of insurance, your car will be towed right away.

Afterwards, to retrieve your car after being impounded, you must show proof of insurance to have your car released. This has made it easy for the City of Dallas to remove uninsured cars that are typically driven by mostly illegals.

Shortly after "No insurance" ordinance was passed, the Dallas impound lots began to fill up quickly and were full after nine days. Most of the impounded cars were driven by illegals.

Not only must you provide proof of insurance to have your car released, you have to pay for the cost of the tow, a $350 fine, and charged $20 for every day their car is kept in the lot.

I would suggest other cities across the nation to follow what Dallas, Texas is doing. Not only is it getting uninsured drivers off the road, but it is taking away vehicles driven by illegals that have no insurance that might endanger your life.

UNIONS - AMERICA'S BANE!

Federal and state workers make a LOT more than you and I (on average), and it's because we have bought into the myth that unions are for fair treatment of workers. They may have been at one time, but have become a den of thieves.

My town of York, PA went from a boom town to one of the poorest in America because the exorbitant demands of the union forced Caterpillar out of town. Now they are threatening to shut down Harley (the best paid plant in the area).

But in government? The collective bargaining via a union is superfluous because the workers already have powerful lobbies. Can you imagine if military personnel or social security recipients had a union that demanded more and more all the time?

Vote NO.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) worked with the North Dakota Geological Survey, a number of petroleum industry companies and independent universities and other experts to study the Bakken Formation in North Dakota and Montana.

James Bartis, leading researcher with the study, says America has more oil in this one compact area than the entire Middle East.

The Department of Interior believes that North Dakota and Montana have an estimated 3 to 4.3 billion barrels of recoverable oil in this area, and it could be extracted at an approximate cost to Americans of only $16 a barrel.

Royal Dutch Shell believes we could extract fuel from oil shale, a type of sedimentary rock found in Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado's Western Slope. Studies indicate there may be more than one trillion barrels of oil in this shale. THAT IS NEARLY THREE TIMES THE RESERVES IN SAUDI ARABIA.

America would have a sufficient oil supply for the next 400 years.
